Duly Health and Care is Hiring an Ophthalmic Technician Near Bloomingdale, IL

Overview:
Location: Bloomingdale with occasional travel to Glen Ellyn Downers Grove, and Naperville

Hours:
Monday - Friday; Hours varying between 7:30am-4:30pm

Responsibilities:

This individual is responsible for performing an extensive number of data collection functions, as delegated by the physician, to allow for proper diagnosis of the patients condition.

  • Interacts with all patients using respect and professionalism.
  • Communicates with patient about the processes and procedures taking place during their visit.
  • Ascertains patient needs and unusual circumstances, via patient or family member.
  • Seeks advice from more senior staff or doctors as necessary, never performing beyond capabilities.
  • Provides telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills and patient care questions.
  • Adheres to approved policies and procedures.
  • Obtains patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history, family history and history of allergies and medications.
  • Completes accurate, concise documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Performs accurate and consistent patient care procedures, including but not limited to:
    Visual acuity
    • Confrontational visual fields, evaluation of motility and pupillary function tests
    • Applanation tonometry and tono-pen tonometry
    • Refractometry
    • Angle assessment and dilation of pupils
    • Automated visual field testing
    • Ophthalmic imaging
    • Retina and optic nerve scanning (OCT)
    • Corneal topography
    • Keratometry and pachymetry
    • Assists in maintaining the exam rooms by cleaning between patients and at the end of the day.
    • Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
    • Prepares to take certification test.
    • Maintains HIPAA compliancy.
Qualifications:
The Experiences You Bring
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as an ophthalmic assistant or willing to become certified within one year of employment
  • Experience in an ophthalmology or optometry setting is required
  • Fundamental experience working with standard ophthalmic evaluation equipment.
