Job Summary
The Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a member of the ED team and his/her primary responsibility is the management of acutely ill and/or injured patients in the emergency room setting. The ED APP is under the direct supervision of the ED supervising physician or designated back-up physicians. The APP performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, and provides direct patient care services in the Emergency Department. The APP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting, and provides leadership to the organization and to the APP profession.

Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
PA: Graduate of accredited Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree Physician Assistant program
NP Graduate of accredited MSN or DNP Nurse Practitioner’s Program to treat all ages (i.e., FNP, ENP)
License
PA: Unrestricted license issued by NCMB with authorization to practice as a Physician Assistant
NP: Unrestricted RN license issued by or recognized by the NCBON with authorization to practice as a Nurse Practitioner
Certification
PA: PA-C
NP: NP certification to treat all ages, e.g., FNP or ENP.
Experience
PA: Emergency Medicine experience strongly preferred, but will consider relevant PA experience such as EMS/Paramedic
NP: Emergency Medicine NP experience strongly preferred, but will also consider RN with 3 years Emergency Medicine RN experience
Job Hours
The Emergency Department is staffed 24/7 with a mix of physicians and APPs. APP shifts are 10 hours rotating days, nights, and weekends. Full-time 1.0 FTE = 16 shifts /month.
