Position Summary

This position provides leadership and direction for Construction within Lighting Programs. Focus will be on oversight of construction.

This includes Construction, Service and Work Management Support within an assigned jurisdiction. Additionally, this position will lead the jurisdictional Lighting Programs functions in compliance with all applicable state, federal and corporate requirements, including standards, work methods, procedures, and safe work practices. This position requires intensive interaction and networking skills with peers and stakeholders. This leader will also provide direct support and coaching to individual performers and peers as needed.

* Contractor Oversight
* Work Order Creation and Completion

Responsibilities

Leads team to ensure the provision of reliable and quality service.
* Manage the design, scheduling and implementation of all Lighting Programs Engineering, Construction and Maintenance projects.
* Oversees that assigned work is completed according to schedule and in compliance with Design, Construction and Maintenance standards.
* Ensures field reviews are performed to observe progress, performance, quality, and results.
* Champions and leads opportunities for improvement.
* Establishes and communicates expectations to team.
* Maintains responsibility for Capital and O&M budget execution and monitoring. Maintains productive and motivated work force to ensure a cohesive team effort.
* Manage the Lighting Programs staff, providing design, construction, maintenance, and technical support.
* Actively share information with team.
* Develop a culture of two-way communication, encouraging feedback and communications to other leaders.
* Enable and empower employees to make decisions within boundaries.
* Develop employees for advancement.
* Create a diversified work climate which encourages openness, innovation, involvement, teamwork, and trust.
* Provide employee feedback for continuous improvement.
* Ensure safe working conditions and practices by providing adequate oversight of safety training, work practices and procedures. Initiate action to promptly correct potential or actual safety issues.
* Participate in the development of strategies related to employee training and development. Implement Continuous Improvement
* Analyze feedback to ensure appropriate actions are taken to positively impact results.
* Serve as a model of leadership for change.
* Provide performance feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.
* Ensures implementation of organizational improvements and technology.
* Develop and own improvement plans.
* Collaborate with peers to develop strategic succession plans to address bench strength and overall employee experience base. Maintain positive customer relations to resolve complaints and concerns.
* Ensure timely response and satisfactory resolution of customer concerns.
* Ensures that customer incidents are thoroughly investigated and reviewed with responsible employees and supervisors.
* Works with other leadership to implement improvements for customer satisfaction.
* Support area storm response as represented in Lighting Programs storm plan. Supports direction and initiatives of overall Distribution organization.
* Provides feedback and proposed solutions for operational and financial issues to leadership.
* Supports peers in organization through sharing of best practices and learnings.
* Serves on jurisdictional, department or cross-functional level teams in support of company objectives.

Required/Basic Qualifications

* Bachelors degree in Business Management or
* Bachelors degree in Engineering
* 4 years related work experience
* In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND 4 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 8 year(s) related work experience

Desired Qualifications

* In addition to desired degree, 10 years related work experience

  • Broad knowledge of distribution systems, stations & equipment.

  • Working knowledge of applicable safe work practices and standards.

  • Ability to motivate team members at multiple levels of the organization and lead other through changes.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner and lead other to achieve high-quality and high-quantity results.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build cooperative working relationships across multiple levels of the organization and across departmental boundaries.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to represent the company in interactions with members of the public.

  • Broad knowledge of overall company operations.

  • Broad network of contacts throughout Duke Energy and strong industry affiliations.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities including decision making, delivering results.

  • Strong negotiation and collaboration skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute both short and long range plans.

  • Ability to manage complex transitional issues through innovation and teamwork.

  • Previous supervisory / management experience.

  • Thorough understanding of budgeting and goal setting practices with the ability to manage departmental budgets to achieve financial and operational goals.
