Duckhorn Wine Company is Hiring a Lab Technician/Cellar Worker Near Napa, CA

The Duckhorn Portfolio is North America’s premier luxury wine company. We were established in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. Today, our portfolio features some of North America’s most revered wineries, including Decoy, Paraduxx, Goldeneye, Migration, Canvasback, Calera, Kosta Browne, Greenwing and Postmark.
The Lab Technician/Cellar Worker is responsible for assisting with the daily lab and cellar functions while maintaining the integrity of the product and adhering to Duckhorn Portfolio’s philosophy and mission. The Laboratory Technician-Cellar Worker position takes a role in daily lab activities, troubleshooting lab equipment, and offers support to cellar operations when required. Key Relationships: Napa Valley Brand Winemakers, Assistant Winemaker, Enologist, Paraduxx Cellar and Duckhorn Lab.
What we will ask you to do:

Conducts routine analyses of juice, musts, and wines including FSO2, brix, TA, pH
Enters timely and accurate data into Excel spreadsheets and Navision databases
Critically reviews analytical results and recognizes when results are out of range, then reanalyzes if necessary.
Effectively communicates data to Winemakers and other interested parties
Prepares bench-top trials and blends upon request and help to set up tasting
Prepares and standardizes solutions, calibrate instruments, and keep daily records
Maintains chemicals through proper storage and update SDS sheets as needed
Troubleshoots equipment and procedures when necessary
Pulls tank and barrel samples according to schedule and on request
Makes wine and juice movements
Operates crossflow, presses and other harvest equipment
Sanitize tanks and winery equipment

What you will need:

Certificate or degree preferred, some wine education/courses
Minimum 1 year of laboratory experience
Proficiency in the principals and practices of wine analysis.
Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV system is a plus
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

The salary range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hour and is what we expect to pay for the role
