Duckett Creek Sanitary Sewer District is Hiring a Field Services / Collection System Maintenance / Laborer Near Saint Peters, MO

Job Opening – Field Services

Duckett Creek Sanitary District is now accepting applications for the position of Field Services worker. This position performs repairs and reconstruction of sewer lines and other general field and maintenance activities. A working knowledge of grounds maintenance and general construction methods is preferred. Required education and experience include: high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of 2 – 5 years of experience in construction, vehicle maintenance and the operation of heavy equipment and basic computer skills necessary to operate personal computers and iPads. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. The selected applicant for this position will have 90 days from date of hire to obtain the required Class A CDL license with tank endorsement and air brakes.

Salary Range: $52,761 ($25.36/hour) -$66,261 ($31.86/hour) with an additional $1,500 at 15 years of service.

Partial Job Description:

Performs repairs and reconstruction of sewer lines and other general field and maintenance activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitors and records readings to ensure sewer plant and lift stations are functioning properly.
  • Performs repairs, maintains and cleans sewer lines including concrete removal, repair and replacement, cementations lining.
  • Performs general landscaping duties including concrete restoration and grading to restore construction areas.
  • Operates and maintains heavy equipment including land application tractors and dump trucks, flush trucks and easement machines.
  • Performs general field work including responding to sewer back-ups and complaints.
  • Performs electrical and other maintenance activities according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Responds to emergency calls regarding sewer back-ups, lift station problems and plant problems.
  • Operates the belt press in preparing bio-solids for land application.
  • Video and visually inspects sewer lines and manholes to determine the possibility of storm water infiltration and reduce customer complaints and overflow.
  • Communicates with land owners and fosters positive public relations with customers and farmers.
  • Assists various water companies in service disconnection activities.

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs general maintenance and repair of District property as assigned.
  • Cleans and organizes the garage/workshop area and ensures that all tools are in proper order.
  • Assists construction crews and other utility companies to locate District lines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Working knowledge of the operation, servicing and preventative maintenance of engine-driven and gas detection meter equipment.
  • Working knowledge of tools, materials, methods and practices required to clean, maintain and repair sewer lines and related systems including metal fabrication and welding.
  • Working knowledge of grounds maintenance, manhole rehabilitation and general construction methods.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, other employees and the general public.
  • Ability to apply common sense to solve occasional problems.
  • Ability to operate alone and follow standard procedures.
  • Ability to do physical labor including digging, lifting, pulling and hauling dirt and equipment.

Pay: From $25.36 per hour
