Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart is Hiring an Upper School Math Teacher Near Houston, TX

Description

Summary:

Duchesne Academy is seeking an Upper School Math Teacher with experience teaching middle and upper school grade levels. Successful candidates must be flexible and able to teach Algebra I, Geometry, as well as upper-level courses.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with math faculty by attending meetings and developing and updating course curricula.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
  • Supervise children and ensure a safe and loving environment, including monitoring and responding to events in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and other areas of the campus.
  • Attend school-wide meetings and serve on committees, as required.
  • Seek and attend professional development opportunities.
  • Evaluate each student’s growth and performance.
  • Provide constructive feedback to parents.
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Requirements

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field, master’s degree and/or teacher certification preferred.
  • Three years of experience teaching math courses at the middle school or high school level, preferably in a PreK-12 environment.
  • Proven competency with leveraging technology in instruction.
  • Strong references that convey teaching abilities.

  • Ability to maintain records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Treat parents as partners in their child's education.
  • Empathetic to children’s and parent’s needs.

Upon Hiring

  • Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks.
  • Successful completion of CMG Safe Environment Training.
  • Current CPR certification.

  • Appropriately carry out specific duties as determined by the Head of School and/or supervisor. 
  • Maintain professional credentials and complete required training. Participate in and provide documentation for at least one professional development opportunity per year in addition to those required and provided by the school.
  • Respect the confidentiality of the school, its employees, students, and families. 
  • Comply with the policies and procedures as articulated in the Faculty and Staff Handbook. 
  • Authentically engage in the school’s self-reflection process that requires written goals and measured progress towards them.
