Job description

Engineering Technician

Security Clearance: Must be clearable for Public Trust without any criminal records and bad financial history.

Must be an US Citizen or a Permanent Resident who has lived continuously in the US for the past three years.

Place of Work: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/National Weather Services, East-West Hwy, Silver Spring, Maryland -20910 (This is NOT a Remote Position)

Introduction:

DTX provide services to Federal agencies and is looking for an Engineering Technician with a minimum five years of experience to work at NOAA/NWS.

Candidate we are looking for must be able to apply their experience, skills, and expert knowledge to produce technical advice on mechanical and system engineering. Must be able to create and use planning software like Microsoft products, databases (e.g., Sunflower), Smartsheet, and Google platform among others. Is responsible for all aspects of field and/or task level project performance (technical, contractual, administrative, budget plans, cost estimating). Will work on multiple projects simultaneously. Organizes, oversees the successful completion of all assigned tasks, and maintains customer contacts to ensure conformity to all real property projects. Activities could also include a wide range of requirements: Project Management, data collection (leases, environmental reports, GSA disposal requirements, etc.), coordinate with regional customers, perform cost analysis, develop project schedules, reports, briefings, Statement of work (SOW), etc. Participate and manage studies and their activities of various projects. Provides technical direction for activities in the project management/real property subject area. Recognized at the industry or Federal agency level as one of only a handful of qualified contributors to the technical planning process and for providing technical management and guidance.

Job Description and Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Coordination with regions to collect pertinent information required to support real property disposal processes.
  • Obtain and review existing leases, and coordinate with stakeholders as required to determine steps for disposal.
  • Analyze various types of data, including environmental reports, GSA disposal requirements, and other information to support program and project findings and results.
  • Perform cost analysis for past and present disposal sites to determine cost expenditures.
  • Update documentation to meet current status of real property disposal projects: collect data, evaluate, sort, track, and maintain spreadsheets, actions, and schedules. Populate spreadsheets (Excel, Google, Smartsheet, or current approved software by Government Manager) to support data. Maintain, validate, and monitor the data for accuracy. Develop and maintain project schedules to track milestones, metrics, and key deliverables.
  • Prepare schedule, charts (including Gantt, various types, etc.) for internal coordination, formal meetings, and briefings.
  • Manage reports and other activities of various Programs and Projects.
  • Provide reports for all projects as requested. These reports may include but are not limited to:
  • Project Status
  • Project Expenditures
  • Inventory of all site buildings, structures, land (leased, owned)
  • Cost savings due to reduction of organizational footprint, leases, Protection and Maintenance (P&M)
  • Prepare slides for program reviews and other briefings. Develop slides (i.e., in Power Point, Google, Smartsheet, or current approved software by Government Manager) to support the data. Briefing slides will support presentations to Leadership in determining program/project path forward.
  • Prepare, provide, and track meeting minutes and action items. Make corrections and updates, as necessary. Develop, monitor and manage action log for programs, projects and customer requests.
  • Provide daily and weekly status reports on activities performed. Occasionally, may require an unscheduled update upon request.

Qualification

Must have at least five years of experience.

Must know project management processes.

Must be proficient in MS Office, MS Project, Smartsheet and Google Suites.

Must be a consummate professional with attention to detail and be a team player.

Must know have knowledge of Mechanical and Industrial Systems

Must be familiar with NEPA rules.

Must have excellent communication skills including listening, speaking, writing and reading.

Education in Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related field is desirable.
