The impact you will have in this role:

As a member of the Business Management – DataPro team within the Chief Client Office, the Quantitative Research and Development Director will lead the quantitative research life cycle from data discovery to model development and maintenance of a portfolio of sophisticated analytical data products. Together with a team of data stewards, data wranglers and data science professionals, the director will lead the design & development of the data research workbench, and equity and fixed income factor model.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide thought-leadership to internal and external client collaborators on data science techniques and methods to address market structure / market partner sensitivities while advancing innovative approaches and method that allow for greater clarity across markets
  • Collaborate with commercial product managers covering each asset class to define client use cases / needs with the goal of developing a future roadmap and portfolio of analytics data products
  • Partner with information technology to research and implement the latest emerging technologies that will enable next gen of analytics
  • Lead full product life cycle using Agile frameworks
  • Leverage financial markets and quantitative clients’ use case knowledge to inform and drive portfolio strategy and roadmap vision
  • Coordinate with tribe, squads, partners, and internal business aligned centers of excellence to bring analytical products to market and define paths to best complete vision
  • Maintain a proficiency in the quantitative research, financial engineering and data science driven environment, industry trends, and current state strengths and gaps
  • Determine quarterly objective key results that will drive product strategy forward and meet overall business objective prioritizing chances to create maximum customer and business value
  • Continuously seek internal and external client feedback to ensure all partners are advised of what is needed to deliver a product to market and ensure innovation

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of the following experience required: building research platforms, factor model research, risk and alpha factor research 
  • 5 years of Leading quantitative research and data science teams responsible for developing revenue-generating quantitative models and high-impact data analytics in either a financial service institution or analytics vendor providing services to front-office personas.
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Statistics, Physical Sciences, Finance, or Technology required

Talents Needed for Success:

  • Strong technical and programming skills in one or more high level programming languages such Python, R, Matlab etc. Knowledge of SQL 
  • A good understanding of analytical approach and understanding of quantitative and fundamental investment approaches
  • Familiarity with market data products and 3rd party software analytics services targeting front-office personas
  • Knowledge of asset management, capital markets and portfolio risk management
  • Experience working with the latest technology stack enabling advanced data science / quantitative research including as needed machine learning / AI
  • Knowledge of financial markets, data models and validated quantitative methods and data requirements
  • Expertise in applied statistics and quantitative modelling. Validated expertise in delivering analytics data products to market with commercial success
  • Deep intellectual curiosity about financial markets, emerging technologies, and data science
  • Experience in Agile Development, with Product Management (or similar) experience
  • Demonstrated exceptional conceptual and analytical skills with ability to identify, analyze, evaluate product innovation alternatives
  • Ability to do multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines, self-motivated and inspires others to be the same, work comfortably in a fast-paced environment and within group settings, have an ability to think creatively and strategically and have an ability to stay calm under stress and uncertainty
  • Excellent executive presence and strong teammate with an ability to develop working relationships across the organization as well as externally. Must have the ability to inspire and move a team in a unified direction and with a unified vision

The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations.
