dsstpublicschools is Hiring an Autism Center Special Education Teacher (2023-2024) [Immediate Start] Near Denver, CO

POSITION: Special Education Teacher (Autism Center Setting) GRADE LEVEL: Middle School LOCATION: DSST Montview Campus SALARY: $54,000-$72,000 based on aligned years of experience up to 10 years, for the remainder of the school year (through 6/30/24). Please note that this salary range will be increasing to $62,000-$80,000 starting 7/1/2024. You are also eligible for a $3,000 Signing Bonus if you possess a Colorado Special Education Teaching License. We also offer a relocation stipend for anyone joining us from 75 miles or more from Denver! STATUS: Full time, benefits eligible, exempt, in-person position (Denver, CO) START: First day of new SpEd Teacher staff training will be 7/22/2024. KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Our Autism Center Special Education Teachers are leaders who play an integral role in ensuring that students with disabilities are welcomed, known, and challenged to achieve their most ambitious post-secondary path. Develop and incorporate a variety of curriculum to include literacy, math, language skills, behavioral skills, social-emotional regulation, adaptive and vocational skills in a variety of settings including whole group, small group, and 1:1 Support students with academic and behavioral skills by using trauma informed interventions and practices to target their social and emotional needs. Serve as case manager to a portfolio of students; completing tasks such as writing data driven IEPs, developing goals, monitoring progress, delivering targeted academic & behavioral interventions, and celebrating success with each student’s team of teachers and family along the way Work collaboratively with teachers and the school community to develop an inclusive model that strives to incorporate research based interventions in a center based classroom, the general education classroom and the surrounding community. Additional duties as assigned such as supporting student recruitment, running a small group advisory class, after school tutoring, etc. See many of our possible duties here. IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS Proven track record of results in previous roles Proven commitment to and experience with serving students of color, students with disabilities, and/or multilingual students Experience in teaching and implementing positive behavior supports to facilitate learning in the areas of academic, communication, executive functioning, behavioral, and social-emotional regulation.
