Druid Hills Golf Club is Hiring a Golf Course Maintenance Technician Near Atlanta, GA

Rate : $17.50 - $19/hr depending on experience
About the role
Golf course maintenance is the care and improvement of the golf course itself, as well as the features around the course. The maintenance job includes care of the grass on the fairways, greens and roughs. It also includes keeping the bunkers in top shape. You will also have to maintain flowerbeds and shrubs not only on the course, but the grounds as well. Trees must be trimmed and fallen branches removed. Weather can bring all sorts of conditions onto the course, and this must be handled by the maintenance crew. This position also includes maintenance of buildings, bridges, and cart paths. You must perform grounds and building maintenance as directed by Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents. This position reports directly to the Assistant Superintendents.
Responsibilities
  • Mow and trim greens, aprons, tees, fairways, roughs, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides
  • Edge, trim, maintain and rake bunkers
  • Move or set golf holes, tee markers and flags as directed
  • Plant trees, shrubs and flowers
  • Pull weeds and clean beds
  • Trim and prune trees, hedges, brush and shrubbery
  • Removal of debris, snow or ice from bridges and grounds as required
  • Maintain equipment and observe safety procedures
  • Seed, fertilize, apply pesticides and herbicides as needed
  • Cut, roll, lay and water sod
  • Deliver drinking water, ice and drinking cups on golf courses
  • Clean and maintain restrooms
  • Perform cart path repairs and improvements
  • Load and haul rock, sand, or hot/cold asphalt mix
  • Install, repair and clean out culverts
  • Pressure wash equipment, buildings, bridges or other surfaces
  • Maintain ball washers
  • Sand and seed tees and divots
  • Water tees, greens, fairways, and other required areas
  • Helps in project work; assists in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways
  • Assist with repairs to the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed
Requirements
  • Skill and knowledge of safe operation of various types of ground maintenance equipment
  • Knowledge of basic grounds maintenance, road repairs, structure and facility maintenance
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and equipment
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and cleans equipment daily
  • Ability to report problems or equipment failures to manager
  • Return equipment and tools to designated location at the maintenance facility
  • Understand basic principles of diesel and gasoline engines
  • Knowledge of proper loading, transportation and unloading of equipment
  • Skill in processes of seeding, fertilizing, mulching, and general preparation for restoration and renovation
  • Comprehension of location of offices, facilities, roads and boundaries
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and inspections of fencing, barriers, gates, signs, bridges and other structures
  • Basic comprehension to distinguish chemicals such as: cleaning, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer
  • Must have experience in grounds maintenance and/or light equipment operations or related experience
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn the basic rules of golf and golf etiquette
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early morning, weekends, overtime and holidays
  • Ability to work with the public in a professional manner
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Employee will be working on the golf course grounds and in the maintenance building. Work is performed outdoors with exposure to all elements: i.e., insects, snakes, poison ivy, extreme cold and hot temperatures, snow and rain. The employee will be exposed to loud noise, machinery with moving parts, dirt, dust, chemicals and occasionally foul odors. Heavy lifting is required, sometimes up to 75 pounds. Some work is preformed near public roadways, exposing employee to traffic and other hazards.
