DRS Protect, Inc. is Hiring an Armed Security Flex Officer (Claim your own shifts) Near Oakland, CA

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITY: DRS Protect, Inc. is currently building a team of armed flex officers in the Oakland area to assist by covering open shifts due to call-offs in addition to special events at our primary Oakland account. Flex officers get to enjoy a self-determined schedule. Using our app-based program, when a shift becomes available, all flex officers will receive a push notification about the open shift. If they are willing and able to work the shift, they simply claim the shift and report to the job site. Although we have shifts at all hours, we are currently only seeking applications who are available to work between 6 AM and 4 PM, in Oakland, and at this particular account.

ABOUT THE ROLE AT ACCOUNT:

This position will serve as a dual role for St. Vincent de Paul’s Dining Hall and/or Community Center. The core function of the security/monitor will be to sustain a safe and secure environment for our guests, volunteers, and staff while also assisting in other areas of the Dining Hall. To accomplish this, our basic function is as follows:

  • Monitor SVdP Dining Hall or Community Center to enforce peaceful and respectful interactions among guests and individuals directly outside on SVdP’s property.
  • Escort guests off campus if they are unable to comply with protocol.
  • Assist staff with medical emergency by calling 911, opening secured doors, and clearing space for paramedics to treat guests.
  • Maintain familiarity with emergency contact information, property maps, and emergency exits for evacuation.
  • Perform verbal check-ins via walkie-talkie to Men’s Center and Women’s Center throughout the shift.
  • Complete incident reports that follow SVdP’s standards prior to completion of shift.
  • Report any matters of importance (suspicious-looking vehicles, people, etc.) to the shelter staff
  • Security/Monitors will make themselves familiar with staff’s daily tasks and assist staff when assistance is required.
  • Report any facility issues such as fire hazards, blocked doorways, or unsecure areas in SVdP.
  • Facilitate daily check in process for all guests entering SVdP: greeting, temperature check, reciting safety protocols and reminders.
  • Enforcing most up to date Covid-19 protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Monitor Dining Hall and Community Center lines to ensure order among guests
  • Occasionally assist staff with monitor-like duties such as helping set up tables or passing out food.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires ability to stand up to 8 hours per day with frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, pulling, and pushing.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift items up to 25 pounds to a height up to 6 feet and 50 pounds to a height of 3 feet.
  • Occasionally may be required to carry items up to 40 pounds for distances up to 25 feet.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people in various environments, including those that are homeless, addressing substance abuse issues and other barriers to employment, people from diverse ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds, the undocumented, and people with disabilities including HIV/AIDS.
  • Strong work ethics and willingness to work hard to accomplish difficult task.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Candidate must provide a valid guard card and exposed firearm permit
