GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
To provide Audiology services to the patients of Driscoll Children’s Health System. To assist with coordination of specific departmental activities and/or services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Assesses patient needs by selecting, administering, and interpreting appropriate evaluation tools.
  • Provides amplification and/or assistive technology to appropriate candidate.
  • Educate parents and professionals on areas relating to hearing sensitivity, auditory processing and remediation of hearing loss.
  • Educates patient and family members regarding evaluation findings and recommendations.
  • Complies with clinical documentation requirements.
  • Completes required documentation to support dispensing and purchasing hearing aids.
  • Completes required documentation for newborn hearing screening program.
  • Participates in a variety of patient care related team meetings.
  • Participates in departmental meetings.
  • Participates in process improvement.
  • Communicates with referring and community physicians to maximize patient care, establish a professional relationship and develop a consistent referral base. Informs Manager of any difficulties.
  • Maintains billable productivity level as required.
  • Generates suggestions for improving work processes.
  • Will provide Holiday/Week-end on call coverage as needed.
  • Provides in-services within the department, hospital and professional and lay communities.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of evidence based practice.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use computer/software applications required for the job.
  • Ensures all equipment is in good working order with current calibration.
  • Complies with infection control responsibilities in the department. Will occasionally drive for Driscoll Children's Hospital business.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's degree in Audiology; OR
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Au.D.) or equivalent.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Current Texas Licensure as an Audiologist
  • Current BLS certification
