Responsibilities

The Sr. Cloud Systems Engineer is an infrastructure engineer responsible for the design, deployment, operation and maintenance of public cloud solutions. In addition to Systems Administration skills required to provision, manage, monitor and decommission cloud services, this role requires knowledge and experience with technologies for automating provisioning and management of infrastructure in a distributed environment through scripting. The successful candidate is experienced in implementing and managing AWS, Azure or GCP workloads from the ground up and has solid knowledge and hands-on experience with Linux and Windows servers and end-points, storage, networking, virtualization and cloud technologies as well as orchestration and automation. The position requires an individual who has demonstrated technical leadership in a 500 user/VM/cloud environment.

This role is approved for 100% WFH, or hyrbid if desired, and requires the abiltty to commute to Cambridge, MA in a reasonable amount of time to participate in on-call rotation which may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Essential Functions

    Collaborate with internal IT, InfoSec and Engineering teams to plan, design and deploy cloud-based solutions that align with company security requirements and best practices
  • Act as the Infrastructure liaison between IT and Engineering developers to perform requirements analysis, translating business needs into cloud solutions
  • Implement hybrid IT by integrating different cloud services with back-end, traditional data center services
  • Agile provisioning of cloud compute, storage and network resources
  • Maintain systems security and integrity, taking corrective actions as necessary in compliance with company and industry standards and best practices
  • Develop and maintain compliance documentation and architectural diagrams for use in the installation, configuration, operation, maintenance and support of the cloud infrastructure
  • Provide proactive and reactive support on issues relating to the cloud and virtual environments
  • Analyze and articulate the risks, benefits and opportunities associated with any change within the infrastructure
  • Contribute to improvement of administrative and operational processes
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizen and ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Clearance
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science/Engineering or Information Technology and 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • 5 years of hands-on experience with cloud technologies from AWS, Azure and VMware
  • DevOps and Infrastructure automation experience with Ansible, Terraform and Cloud Formation
  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, KMS, IAM, and API Gateways
  • Experience with High Performance Computing cloud services to support scalable digital engineering, data analytics, AI/ML and modern software development
  • Experience with container technologies like ECS, EKS, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, LDAP, HTTPS, VPCs and IPSec/SSL VPN
  • Proficiency in modern scripting languages for automation of systems administration tasks, such as PowerShell, Python, JSON
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and technologies like Gitlab or Jenkins
  • Experience with SSL certificates, encryption and STIG security hardening methodologies
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision and willing to stretch to meet dynamic deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including clean and accurate technical documentation and project management aptitude

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One or more professional certifications such as Network , Security or CISSP
  • AWS, Azure or GCP certifications
  • Experience in DFAR/NIST/CMMC compliance documentation and technical controls

Security Requirement:

  • Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
