DPS Group Global has an opportunity available for an Electrical Designer II to join our Overland Park, KS operation. This individual will be an integral part of the engineering design group, reporting to the Electrical Department Manager, and work alongside other designers and engineers, engineering managers, architects, project managers, and clients to develop design solutions with limited direction. You will perform technical design and specifications of electrical extra low voltage (ELV) systems; of Fire Alarm, Life Safety, Toxic Gas Monitoring, IT /Telecommunications, AV, Security, Access Control, and Public Address systems for client projects in the manufacturing, and construction industries.

Proven success working for EPCM consulting company in a similar role, supporting projects related to cleanrooms, laboratories, semiconductor fab, data center, solar manufacturing, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industries is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Produce and review 2D and 3D design drawings for high technology facilities in accordance with project requirements, codes, standards, specifications, and procedures.
• Responsible for coordination & multidiscipline clash checking including the resolving of issues using Navisworks.
• Site surveys of existing services to ascertain “as-built” conditions.
• Prepare construction documents for Fire Alarm, Life Safety, Toxic Gas Monitoring, IT/Telecommunications, AV, Security, Access Control, and Public Address systems, including drawings and specifications.
• Perform construction administration and field work as required.
• Participate in team coordination activities with other disciplines, sub-contractors, and Clients.
• May be requested to provide guidance to Designer/Engineer I as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in Drafter/Designer roles preferred. Associates degree in CADD, Engineering, or Construction Technology or relevant certification preferred.
• Hands on experience creating floor plans, wiring diagrams, rack elevations, and riser diagrams, using applicable software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit to produce engineering drawings. Direct experience designing electrical extra low voltage (ELV) systems; of Fire Alarm, Life Safety, Toxic Gas Monitoring, IT /Telecommunications, AV, Security, Access Control, and Public Address systems desired.
• Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and International Building Codes (IBC) desired.
• Strongly motivated, well organized, and shows professional initiative. Ability to multitask on multiple projects and work independently. Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills (English).
• Local candidates preferred. Ability to provide valid work authorization for US employment required.
