DPP is Hiring a Windows Server Administrator Near Columbia, SC

Title: Windows Server Admin
Position: 12 Months
Location: Columbia, SC(80% remote ,1 day per week onsite)

Seeking a Windows Server Admin for an opportunity in Columbia, SC. Candidates must be eligible to earn a low-level US security clearance.

Summary:

  • Reviews, tests, and accepts software and hardware as it relates to all supported technologies in the company’s environment. Research and test both new products and problem resolutions. Manages and maintains an in-depth pool of technical advice and expertise to provide information and guidance of the infrastructure assigned.

Job/class description:

  • The Technology Research Analyst will research and stay abreast of all information that may impact the lifecycle of any supported technology or product. Reviews and recommends all new hardware and software that applies to supported technologies in the client’s environment. Participates in the analysis of the requirements for the enterprise and applying emerging technologies to support long-term business objectives. Assists with various related projects.
  • Responsible for testing, product review and research as well as documentation efforts. Ensures complete review of products that can fulfill the customer’s business needs and that mitigate risks associated security vulnerabilities.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and open communication with vendors, operations, architecture, and management staff.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of a variety of information technology products and solutions. Strong research, customer service, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills. Strong attention to detail.
  • Good judgment.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the IT organization.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • Software and tools will vary based on the technologies supported.
  • Communication is extremely important as they will interface with others often
  • Must be comfortable coming in and ready to hit the ground running. Must also have an open mind as we are shifting to a more DevOps model and will eventually be supporting Cloud infrastructure.
  • The candidate must work well individually and with a team who is collaborative and does not require constant oversight
  • The candidate should be energetic, engaging, and eager to learn •
  • The candidate should have a developer mindset focused on improving our services and customer experience.

Work environment:

  • The Windows Server POD is a dynamic team of 21 members providing services for the full lifecycle of Windows servers including Development, Deployment, Maintenance, Support, and Retirement.
  • The team provides 24x7 support of over 1600 virtual and physical Windows servers that are in two Data Centers in Columbia, SC, one remote Disaster Recovery Data Center, Amazon Web Service (AWS) Cloud, and Microsoft’s Azure Cloud.
  • The blue team focuses on defining which versions of Windows is available to our customers, supporting the coding and processes to build servers and install software, and building new servers.
  • The red team focuses on supporting servers, helping customers with server OS/application compatibility issues, and implementing changes to servers to always keep them secure and reliable.
  • Be collaborative and contributing member of an infrastructure development team with strengths in scripting and automation.
  • Basic responsibilities will include managing Windows server software technology implementation, configuration, and compliance tracking, and remediation using automation and scripting
  • Make technical decisions and recommendations for streamlining product enhancements, automations and new tool implementations utilizing skills mentioned above.
  • A background in coding automation is required so that the candidate can automate manual tasks, streamline solutions, improve our day-to-day operations, and help plan for future tool development on the Windows Server environment.
  • With the industry going towards more infrastructure as code, we want someone with some experience to help us drive our server management in that direction.

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $45.00 - $49.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
