Job Description:

PURPOSE OF JOB:

To assist the pharmacist in providing all inpatient and outpatient Pharmacy

services to patients of Doylestown Hospital. This includes preparation of

medications, delivery to nursing units, providing clerical support and other

duties related to the operation of the Pharmacy. This job encompasses all the elements of the pharmacy technician role, plus additional expertise and work in the area of pharmacy automation. To provide focused support for the Distribution and Technology Coordinators through the ability to perform advances activities related to drug distribution technology and longitudinal technology maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Coordinates, with the pharmacist, the work flow for the processing of medication orders.

2. Accurately prepares the routine supply of oral and injectable medications according to

departmental policies and procedures.

3. Delivers and returns medications to and from patient care areas and other departments on

a scheduled basis and when needed. Maintains stock appropriately in the pharmacy, and in the patient care areas.

4. Apply knowledge through advanced experience of pharmacy technology and automation to provide assistance in equipment implementation, maintenance and optimal use for drug inventory and distribution

5. Creates and provides training and competencies on pharmacy automation.

6. With the Distribution Coordinator, works to ensure that mediation inspections throughout the hospital are conducted to ensure medications are stores appropriately and in date.

Job Qualifications:

V. QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent, Pharmacy Technician Certification desirable

If certified, must have current Pharmacy technician certification

Experience: Previous Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience desired.

Other Skills: Basic Computer Skills, Versatility, Time management, Ability to Prioritize, Open and Honest Communication, Ability to coordinate work with others
