DOWL’s recent integration with Farr West adds to the long history of specializing in water resource services for our Nevada and California based clients and are growing our services into multiple markets across the West. Our clients are primarily municipal utilities in northern Nevada and around Lake Tahoe.

Summary

This Senior (Civil) Water Resources Project Engineer is a full-time position to provide engineering project management to the Water Resource Practice Area. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Assist in marketing the services of the Water Practice and other company service lines.
  • Prepare proposals for new projects and maintain client relations.
  • Mentor and supervise other engineers.
  • Planning and design for a variety of water resources projects.
  • Duties include field investigations, analysis of alternative solutions, cost estimating, technical report writing, and final design.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses related to the design of culverts, bridges, irrigation canals, dams, storm drainage systems, water distribution and sanitary collection systems and other hydraulic structures or facilities.
  • Conduct periodic visits to construction sites to monitor quality and progress of the work.
  • Coordination of support staff including word processors, surveyors, CADD drafters, GIS technicians, inspectors, and third-party vendors.
  • Provide timely answers to clients on diverse engineering matters.
  • Manage budgets and schedules and monitor project performance using DOWL Project Management procedures and tools.
  • Travel locally and occasionally out of state to project sites for meetings or field work.
  • Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in all work tasks.
  • Other engineering related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May supervise technical and engineering project staff. May participate in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum Baccalaureate degree from an ABET-accredited civil or bio-resource engineering program or the requisite years of progressive engineering experience and educational study, as prescribed by the local jurisdiction.
  • Requires at least 10 years of experience
  • Additional education may be applied in lieu of experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer in the state of Nevada
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

  • Must be able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Project software.
  • Familiarity with Hydrologic and Hydraulic Analysis software. Experience with utility master planning and utility hydraulic modeling is also preferred.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and ArcGIS is desirable.
  • Applicants should have previous experience with designing community water and sewer systems, pump stations, and water and wastewater treatment facilities.
