Dover Behavioral Health System is Hiring a Mental Health Technician (MHT) - Part-Time Near Dover, DE

Responsibilities:
Mental Health Technician - Part time: 24 hours a week with an every-other-weekend rotation!

Available shifts: 3pm - 11pm, 11pm - 7am
We are seeking self-motivated candidates to join our team as Part-Time Mental Health Technicians. In this role, you will provide direct patient care to adults and adolescents will a wide variety of disorders to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients. Mental Health Technicians are dedicated and committed to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and therapeutic patient care making us a great place to work!

What does a Mental Health Technician do?
  • Closely monitor patients and complete observation rounds using required safety protocols - Patient Safety is #1!
  • Participate in treatment planning by helping to identify patients’ problems, needs and strengths
  • Assist in the admission process, including obtaining vital signs, safety search of patients and personal belongings, obtaining urine specimens and orienting new patients to the unit and their program
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver group therapy programs for patients
  • Participate in hospital codes necessary to the unit’s safe operation
  • Partners with the Charge Nurse with assignments and ensuring a successful shift
  • Create an engaging unit milieu to maintain a therapeutic and safe environment with a goal to achieve high patient satisfaction

Our facility features individual units for adolescents and adults and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. Qualifications:
Minimum:
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
Preferred:
  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology or related field
  • Direct work experience leading groups, de-escalating behaviors, and managing multiple clinical diagnoses
  • Experience working in an inpatient setting

  • UHS benefits are available to employees who are regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week. Coverage is effective on day 31 of employment. Eligibility for employees who are scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week varies by location.
