Douglas & Leisner Optometry is Hiring an Optical Assistant Near Chester, VA

Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. Our ideal candidate will enjoy working with people to providing exceptional customer service and support in an optical setting.

**Duties:**

  • Assist customers in selecting eyewear frames and lenses based on prescription, style and lifestyle needs.
  • Research and advise patients on how to best utilize their vision insurance benefits.
  • Maintain patient records using electronic medical records systems .
  • Schedule optical appointments for adjustments and repairs.
  • Assist medical reception team with overflow calls at busy times.
  • Dispense glasses, making sure fit and patient expectations are met.
  • Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage.
  • As you grow in your job, this position offers valuable, ongoing optical and optometric tech training.

**Experience:**

  • Prior optical or medical experience is a plus.
  • Experience in customer service is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records is a plus.
  • Willing to consider a strong candidate with applicable skills who wants to learn about the optometry and optical field.
  • Licensed and unlicensed opticians encouraged to apply.

This position offers a great opportunity for individuals interested in the optical field to gain valuable experience. Hourly position with paid time off, insurance and retirement benefits.
