Elected Office / Department: COMMUNITY JUSTICE SERVICES
Performs a variety of interviewing, caseload management, intake placement and agency development associated with the Douglas County Community Justice Service’s programming to include Pretrial Release, Alternative Services / Useful Public Service, In-home Detention (Post Electronic Monitoring) and the Douglas County Multiple Offender program. This includes coordinating services with the courts, attorneys, probation offices and other community services providers to include working with pretrial, adjudicated and convicted clientele. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the Division Managers and Supervisor, which fall under the Community Justice Services Director.
Generally, the hiring range is $52,898-$66,123 annually. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None. May assist with the training and orientation of new staff.
INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Work is primarily independent with higher level decisions supported by management. Duties are assigned on a gradually increasing level of complexity. The nature of work involves giving and receiving information that may require analysis and interpretation for placement and monitoring of defendants performing community service, or parameters surrounding Pretrial Release Supervision, In-home detention and/or the Douglas County Multiple Offender program. Criteria for progression includes knowledge of all assigned job tasks, responsibilities and a fundamental understanding of Community Justice Services programs and the policies and procedures related to these programs; the ability to train new officers with similar assigned job responsibilities; and ability to perform assigned duties at the work sites.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Physical Work Environment: Work is performed in a typical office setting, in a Law Enforcement center. May have work assigned in the correctional facility (jail) area. Contacts include criminal defendants, court personnel, defendant’s family, and coworkers.
Physical Demands: Primarily sedentary work with heavy computer use. Required to administer on-site drug and alcohol testing for defendants. Requires ability to hear and speak clearly. May be required to travel to meet with clients or other business partners.
Material and Equipment Directly Used: Computer, iPad or similar device, smartphone, copy/scanner, filing systems, and similar equipment. Uses electronic monitoring equipment typical in the Corrections field. Administers drug tests and must follow protocols and safety procedures. May drive a county vehicle.

In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
