Doppelmayr USA is Hiring a Tool, Equipment and Fleet Manager Near Salt Lake, UT

We are hiring a very organized Tool, Equipment, and Fleet Manager who can work under minimal supervision. This person will be responsible for managing the tool program, managing the equipment and vehicle fleet, and managing the construction yard. This person will work closely with managers of other departments to understand their tool, rigging, equipment, material, and fleet needs, and then work to develop and manage a program to provide those services.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • May supervise a few employees. The size of this team may vary throughout the year from working by yourself to working with and managing some dedicated employees and/or temporary help from other departments.
  • Develop and implement look-ahead schedules to provide equipment, tools, and vehicles when needed.
  • Provide weekly reports and status updates.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Manage the full life-cycle for all tools, rigging, and equipment, including ordering tools, building tool kits, tracking tools and equipment when they are issued to the field, inventorying tool kits and maintaining/ repairing/replacing/restocking tools as needed when the kits are returned, etc.
  • Build tool, equipment and material packages as required.
  • Load tool, equipment, and material packages on trailers per DOT regulations / standards. Unload trailers and take inventory of tools, equipment, and material when they return.
  • Track and maintain the vehicle and equipment fleet, including tracking and maintaining files of warranties, maintenance and repair records, licenses, inspections, service agreements, contracts, etc. for equipment and vehicles.
  • Inspect and perform or coordinate maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
  • Perform or coordinate tool and rigging calibrations/inspections and maintain records.
  • Develop schedules and procedures for, and ensure adherence to, routine maintenance and non-routine repair of all equipment and vehicles in the company’s fleet, including rented vehicles.
  • Establish a schedule for recommended replacement of equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Provide recommendations for purchase/lease of new equipment, vehicles, tools, and rigging.
  • Develop and enforce procedures, policies, and safety protocols for equipment and vehicle use.
  • Keep the Construction yard and facilities organized, clean, and maintained.
  • Provide direction to Construction yard employees, including disciplinary actions if necessary.
  • Develop and ensure a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA, Sate regulations, and all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Work with management to prepare and implement budget.
  • Draft reports on department operations and expenses.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including assisting when Construction crews need additional support

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbal and written. Must be able to ask questions to clarify assignments.
  • Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and activities assigned from multiple departments.
  • Must have an understanding of, or the ability to quickly learn, the tools, equipment, and vehicles to be tracked and maintained.
  • Ability to maintain vehicle records and warranties.
  • Ability to understand written maintenance and calibration directions in manuals and on manufacturer websites.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete and maintain records, develop logs to track tools and vehicles, etc.
  • Ability to operate all classes of forklifts and elevated work platforms.
  • Ability to safely drive and deliver materials and equipment when towing trailers up to 30’ long.
  • Ability to load trailers in accordance with DOT regulations / standards.
  • Ability to use tools (saws, drills, pumps, etc.)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience managing tools, equipment, and fleet is required. Experience using a tool tracking software, like Hilti ON!TRACK, is a plus.
  • ERP/MRP system experience
  • 4-5 years construction experience
  • Familiarity with Rigging processes
  • Tool purchasing experience is a plus.

Job Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license is required, CDL license preferred
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facility (this may include climbing ladders).
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • There may be prolonged periods of standing and also prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must have a willingness to work inside or outside, in nice weather and in the elements, as required.
  • Full time, Monday – Friday, 8 hours/day minimum, and may include overtime on evenings and weekends.
  • Able to travel to job sites as needed.
