Donna Klein Jewish Academy, an independent non-profit school for children from Kindergarten through 12, is a Jewish community day school serving families from a broad spectrum of Jewish backgrounds and religious practices. The school was founded in 1979 and lives its mission: To educate our children and the greater DKJA community to be knowledgeable and responsible citizens of the world, committed to Jewish values and lifelong learning.
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts is actively seeking a full-time music teacher capable of instructing classes spanning grades K-12.
This instructional position establishes a music program that includes singing, music appreciation, and choir.
Additionally, the teacher has the option to integrate instruction on keyboards, percussion instruments, and bells into the curriculum.
The music teacher will take on the responsibility of instructing weekly lessons for students in grades K-8, conducting an elective high school choir class, and leading choir sessions after school twice a week.
For this role, the music teacher is expected to be a solid pianist, singer, and accompanist. This teacher aims to inspire students with a passion for music. This inspiration is achieved through the demonstration of effective communication of key musical concepts, tools, and the overall structure of the music program.
This candidate will work collaboratively as a Visual and Performing Arts Department member in all facets of the arts programs at DKJA. The music teacher will assist our drama teacher with musical productions. The candidate will assist in planning, preparing, and presenting programs, competitions, field trips, events, and festivals for the school.
The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience and must hold a Bachelor’s degree and have the ability to teach song in both in English and Hebrew and who can incorporate Israeli music into the curriculum.
