Description
The Zhang Laboratory at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center (St. Louis, Missouri) studies how photosynthetic organisms respond to high temperatures by using both green algae and land plants as models. To learn more about the Zhang Lab, visit our webpage. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a full-time lab technician position. The position is available immediately. Review of applications will begin on 12/18/2023 and continue until the position is filled. Individuals aiming for graduate school in the future are especially encouraged to apply. Several of our previous lab technicians went onto graduate school after the training in the Zhang lab.
Responsibilities:

• Participation in research projects about how green algae and land plants respond to high temperatures
• General lab duties, including but not limited to working with various equipment for algal cultivation and photosynthetic measurements in green algae and land plants
• Help characterize mutants in green algae and land plants
• Other duties as assigned

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Able to organize, multitask time efficiently and work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and interactive research environment
• Effective writing and communication skills, meticulous record keeping
• Passion for plant science research and learning new skills

Qualifications
Qualifications:

• BS in biology or related field
• Previous laboratory experience in plant science and some bioinformatic/coding skills are pluses, but not required
