The Johnsonburg Mill is located near the Allegheny Forest on the headwaters of the scenic Clarion River and is recognized as one of the most technology advanced paper mills in the world.

The mill is focused on finding people who want to improve reliability of the mill, machines, and reliability of the product and driving results.

Position Description :

The responsibilities of this job are all production related activities for #1 Paper Machine Department, including safety, environmental, quality, production, and employee relations.

This includes the direction of all operation salaried employees and indirect supervision of all hourly operation and some hourly maintenance employees.

Key Responsibilities :

In this position you will specifically :

• Identify, plan, and coordinate continuous improvement activities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and profitability initiatives of the J1 paper machine.
• Ability to lead safety improvements through personal commitment, procedure adherence, and emphasis in reducing workplace risks.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience leading a team to achieve year over year improvements.
• Develop strategies that improve operating efficiencies, employee engagement, and technical development of personnel.
• Plan, organize, and execute scheduled maintenance outages on the paper machine and associated auxiliary equipment.
• Capability to solve complex technical problems and machine issues.
• Collaborate with other segments of the business to get support for paper machine needs including quality, maintenance, and product development.
• Develop direct reports to ensure bench strength and leadership skills.

Required Qualifications / Professional Experiences :

• 10 years of operating experience on paper machines; preferably running a fine paper / coated or uncoated machine.
• Minimum high school or equivalent education, bachelor’s degree in an engineering field is preferred.
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and similar personal computer programs.
• The candidate should be able to demonstrate expert papermaking knowledge as well as troubleshooting skills and techniques to solve quality and operational issues on paper machines.
• Strong interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

Previous supervisor experience in a union environment is required.

Willingness to work off-schedule hours as needed to support the operation as required.

Preferred Qualifications / Professional Experiences :

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• Papermaking experience (greater than 10 years’ experience)
• Knowledge of effective maintenance practices
• SAP knowledge
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, experience
• Knowledge of information databases
• Working in a Union environment
