The Position:
Position Title: Azure Administrator
Location: Hybrid Remote Off-Site and On-Site (as required) in Middletown, PA
Duration: 36 Month Project

We are seeking an Azure Administrator to add to our team supporting Commonwealth of Pennsylvania information technology projects. Project duration will be for a period of 12 months, with the potential to renew for an additional 12 months. Work environment will be hybrid, primarily remote off-site with on-site presence as required; projected to be one week on-site every six weeks.

Position Overview: The Azure Administrator will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing Azure cloud infrastructure for government projects. With a minimum of three years of experience in Azure administration, the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Azure services, networking, security, and automation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Azure Infrastructure Management: Deploy, configure, monitor, and optimize Azure virtual machines, storage accounts, virtual networks, and other Azure services to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security best practices and compliance standards within the Azure environment, including identity and access management, network security, encryption, and threat detection.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Utilize Azure monitoring and logging tools to proactively monitor the health and performance of Azure resources. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Azure services and infrastructure.
- Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other scripting languages to streamline routine tasks, improve efficiency, and enforce configuration management.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions for critical Azure resources and workloads to ensure business continuity and data protection.
- Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, system engineers, and security specialists to design and implement Azure solutions. - Document system configurations, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing and compliance purposes.
- Performance Optimization: Identify opportunities for performance optimization and cost reduction within the Azure environment. Recommend and implement solutions to improve resource utilization and optimize Azure spending.

This position description serves as a general guideline and may be adjusted based on specific project needs and organizational requirements.

The Preferred Skills and Experience:
- 3 years of experience in Azure administration, preferably in a government or regulated environment
- Strong understanding of Azure services such as Azure VMs, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, Azure Active Directory, and Azure Security Center
- Experience with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates for infrastructure as code (IaC) deployment
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and/or Azure CLI for automation
- Knowledge of Azure security best practices, compliance standards (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP), and regulatory requirements
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyse and resolve complex technical issues
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
