I. Primary functions/General purpose of position:
Medical Assistants are involved in all aspects of the quality, compassionate care provided to females of all ages. The medical assistant is to perform obstetric and gynecological intake, pregnancy testing and family planning, assist with routine office visits including pap, colposcopy and LEEP procedures, and patient education–all with a common goal of providing the best comprehensive women's health care in the region. Maintain confidentially and complies with HIPAA regulations.
II. Employment Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant, LPN, RN
- Experience with OB/GYN preferred
- Ability to read and write in order to accurately process required information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Accompany physician into the patient examination room to assist and transcribe a history and physical exam, with accurate documentation of the physician’s encounter with the patient.
2. List all proper diagnoses, symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
3. Enter patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc as ordered by provider.
4. Accurately document any procedures and discussion performed by the physician with correct medical terminology.
5. Comfortable & knowledgeable working in a women's health environment.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
2. Adhere to employer work practices as well follow HIPAA, OSHA regulations and other state and federal regulations.
3. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management.
4. Effectively manage day to day responsibilities & stress working in a fast paced environment.
5. Communicating with patients in person and via phone as directed by the provider.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Medical Assistants use their organization and time management skills to systematically complete transcription, organization and recordkeeping tasks during downtime between appointments with patients, optimizing all office activities while still keeping up with the provider.
Since our group has multiple offices throughout the greater Richmond area, you may be asked to work at multiple offices in a week. Please include pay expectations when applying for position.
