Description

The Product Engineer has the responsibility to develop mechanical and electro-mechanical solutions for the marine market compliant with government and industry standards. The engineer will also be responsible for the sustaining engineering of any Limerick design controlled products.

Requirements

Main Responsibilities

· Works with design engineering to develop cost effective, robust, manufacturable solutions to design problems

· Designs: Tools, Nests, Fixtures and Machines for fabrication of components and error proofed assembly of mechanical products 

· Develops fixtures, nests and poka-yoke tooling with associated PLC logic to control and capture production activity, and ensure safe and error proofed assembly of production end items.

· Coordinates vendors and outside contractors in the development of tools and assembly processes.

· Conducts Machine and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and develops detection and prevention methods and control plans to reduce risk and liability in end item assembly processes.

· Develops process flow maps and identifies potential bottle necks and costly operations and makes recommendations relative to quality, tooling and manufacturing processes.

· Conducts in-depth studies relative to justification of equipment purchases/modifications, work simplification, system standardization of parts, components assemblies and materials.

· Prepares and implements changes in existing plant layout and capital investments.

· Conducts time and motion studies. Assists in determining capacity and production standards.

· Estimates and validates production capacity via pilot builds and run-at-rate studies to establish labor content of end items.

· Develops work instructions for proper fabrication and assembly of medium to high volume products

· Develops process change plans, validates change effectiveness and implements changes in processes, time standards, and bills of material.

Who are we looking for:

Qualifications and Experience

We believe that the ideal candidate has the following qualifications and experiences:

· Minimum Bachelors of Science or related degree in Engineering

· Preference given for experience in marine or vehicle controls markets

Specialized Skills: 

· Knowledge of solid modeling software (Creo Parametric preferred).

· Knowledge of 2-D modeling software (AutoCAD preferred).

· Functional understanding of ANSI Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

· Functional understanding of measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, comparators, etc)

· Working knowledge of manufacturing processes including turning, milling, molding, die casting, stamping, and extruding.

· Working knowledge of rapid prototyping processes including machining, 3D printing, and laser cutting

· Functional understanding of electro mechanical sensors and measurement devices (potentiometers, DC circuits, ohm meters, oscilloscopes, etc.).

· Ability to construct, interpret and apply Design FMEA’s and Process FMEA’s

· Project management experience with demonstrated ability to meet required timeline commitments. 

· Advanced use of typical office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project)

· Intermediate use of MS Access
