Domestic Violence Intervention Program is Hiring a Director of Sexual Assault Services Near Iowa, IA

OVERVIEW: Direct and provide leadership for the Sexual Assault Services Programs of DVIP/RVAP including advocacy, crisis line, support groups, and educational programming. Responsible for supervision and oversight of staff providing sexual violence services. The DVIP/RVAP Program offers a comprehensive range of services including crisis response, advocacy, individual and group counseling services to individuals impacted directly or indirectly by sexual violence. The Director of Sexual Assault Services is responsible for the day-to-day operations of sexual assault services, including advocacy, counseling, and group activities in DVIP/RVAP’s service counties. The Director of Sexual Assault Services provides direct client services.

Certified Domestic Abuse Advocate: Victim counselor certification and Certified Victim Services Advocate required after appointment to position.

Required Qualifications:

1. BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (Two years of experience as a family or services case manager in a major social service program may be substituted for one year of college education).

2. Two years’ experience in the domestic or sexual violence field providing peer advocacy and crisis intervention work with youth and adults.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of domestic and sexual violence and systems advocacy.

4. A working knowledge of basic office functions, including word processing and email.

5. Understanding of issues of cultural and socioeconomic diversity as applied to sexual violence intervention services.

6. Past supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership skills.

7. Be organized and detail-oriented.

8. Ability to work in an independent and self-directed manner.

9. Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and reliable transportation.

10. Ability to pass an Iowa background, state of residency background, FBI, Child Abuse and Sex Offender Registry check.

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Multilingual.

2. Public speaking skills and ability to provide training within scope of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for fulfilling the overall mission of the DVIP/RVAP Program in the provision of services to program participants.

2. Victim/survivor focused activities to ensure that the safety and security of the victim are primary.

3. Managing and administering the outreach program included oversight of intake and departure, services, adherence to City and State rules and regulations, and client obligations;

4. Supervising, hiring/firing, evaluating, and developing staff and volunteers;

5. Set program and employee goals to ensure that client needs are being met.

6. Develop, review, and update daily procedures/protocols and recommend new programs to the Assistant Executive Director.

7. Train, and schedule outreach staff; Assist the Assistant Executive Director in hiring, managing, and supervising staff; conduct annual evaluations of direct services staff. Discipline staff as outlined in the DVIP Personnel Policies Handbook.

8. Supervise client and staff relationships in keeping with sound conflict resolution policies, personnel policies, and DVIP grievance procedures.

9. Developing collaborations with other community-based organizations, acting as a liaison to other organizations.

10. Developing programs for clients directly or indirectly impacted by sexual violence.

11. Attend meetings and trainings as necessary

12. Maintain working knowledge of the State of Iowa statutes and codes that have an impact on our services to victims of sexual violence mandating the requisite reporting mechanisms.

13. Document services provided as required. Monitor and regularly report outcomes of RVAP programs and services to key stakeholders and grantors.

14. Ensure DVIP/RVAP programs, services, and resources are inclusive, accurate, accessible, and aligned with current research and effective practices.

15. Participate in agency speaking engagements.

Related Duties:

1. On-Call.

2. Some travel required, with daytime, weekend and evening work.

3. Other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,600.00 - $57,800.00 per year
