CNC Setup/Operator

Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm Hours per week: 40

Reporting Relationships: Design/Programming Eng Salary / Hourly: Non-Exempt

Primary purpose of job:

Responsible for the setup/operation of various CNC machinery for one off and full production runs. Supports the stamping department with repairs, new tool builds, and fixturing needs.

Essential functions of job:

• understand all department policies, procedures, and guidelines while maintaining a clean and safe work area.
• Setup and operate CNC mills, lathes, and swiss machines. This includes choosing proper tooling, work holding, and loading programs from programmer.
• Assisting the Stamping Department with fast turnaround repairs to maintain on-time-delivery goals.
• Maintain quality standards by performing multiple (1st, during production, and last article) inspections.
• Maintaining CNC machines by clearing chips, checking coolant/lubes/filters, keeping the work environment organized and clean.
• Work closely with Design/Programming Engineer to improve efficiency throughout all CNC operations.

Required skills and abilities:

• Ability to follow instructions and procedures while having a positive attitude.
• Skilled in using QC equipment such as indicators, calipers, micrometers, height gages, pin gages.
• Proficient with blueprint reading and GD&T.
• Proficient with different types of tooling used in CNC machines.
• Must be effective with setting up various CNC machines.
• Must be able to effectively multitask while managing several projects.
• Demonstrate a strong “team player” mentality.
• Remain engaged, proactive, and positive in busy circumstances. Owning assignments and taking full accountability for all results.

Education and Experience:

• HS Diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years of CNC setup and operating.
• Experience with Mastercam or Haas VPS programming a plus.

Physical Demands:

• This position requires 20% clerical and planning and 80% material handling, technical machine operation.
• Safety glasses, hearing protection, and proper foot protection must be worn.
• Ability to lift weights up to 45 lbs.
