SPX FLOW is Hiring a Heavies - Operations Manager Near Rochester, NY

JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Site Leader, directs and/or coordinates Production, Materials, and Quality activities for the assigned product. The primary function is to produce and deliver quality products on time and in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. This role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of manufacturing operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive safety and influence other to perform to a high safety standard.
  • Develop a continuous improvement and highly efficient manufacturing culture.
  • Responsible for the Revenue, Absorption, Operational costs, and schedule attainment to meet contractual commitment dates.
  • Responsible to plan, manage and direct all manufacturing activities to achieve optimum production levels, maintaining the highest standards of quality while improving manufacturing costs and labor utilization.
  • Participate in annual and strategic planning processes.
  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production to our financial commitments and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Direct the implementation and use of appropriate reporting systems, manufacturing processes and quality programs and processes. Ensure continuing compliance with ISO requirements.
  • Review production and operating reports and resolve operational and manufacturing problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Understand workload and balance personnel to accommodate production schedule according the S&OP inputs.
  • Reflect continuous improvement in all manufacturing disciplines and product competitiveness.
  • Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with all environmental and safety policies.
  • Resolve worker grievances or submit unsettled grievances to Human Resources Manager for action.
  • Responsible for the implementation and adherence for all company, corporate, local, state and federal safety and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems and participating in monthly safety inspections.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Understanding of production departments in processing materials and manufacturing products in industrial organization.
  • Intimate knowledge of lean manufacturing processes and systems. A seasoned change agent with extensive knowledge and skills in practices and procedures of continuous improvement such as Kanban, 5S, visual controls and standardization, value stream mapping, Six Sigma, 3P, Quick Changeover, Poka-Yoke, and 80/20 philosophy
  • Demonstrated process development and project management skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to promote cross-functional teamwork
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable and well organized.
  • Solid business acumen.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and specifically supply chain management systems is required.
  • Knowledge of or experience with lean manufacturing systems to develop long range make/buy decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience and success working in a fast paced, matrix environment satisfying multiple customers. Can assist the site leader in driving the business.
  • PC skills, including experience with MRP and ERP systems (ideally SAP) as well as MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • A safety-first mindset.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent to 10 or more years of leadership experience in a related field.
  • 10 years of manufacturing experience, including solid experience leading people and people leaders.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully implementing change management strategies and driving impactful organizational transformations.
  • Strong acumen in lean manufacturing, and similar methodologies.
