Job Details

General Summary:

Manages the production, design, content and delivery of information targeted to distribution centers and fleet managers related to Supply Chain, Merchandising and Store Operations initiatives. Organizes Supply Chain meetings and workshops. Prepares for and facilitates weekly meetings to share and follow-up on key distribution initiatives and responsibilities. Creates and maintains communication schedules and workflow calendar.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Planning

• Partner with other corporate departments to create and schedule the release of communications in a timely and orderly manner for Distribution and Fleet Managers. Questions the necessity of all communications in order to streamline the amount of communication sent to distribution centers.
• Maintain workflow calendar to ensure that distribution center events are scheduled in a time frame that is manageable.
• Assist with inter-departmental communication of Supply Chain strategic initiatives.
• Partner with DC leaders and other departments to develop the agenda and materials for standing weekly DC and Supply Chain meetings.

Communication

• Oversees content development and utilization of the distribution center employee communication platform (Axonify).
• Coordinate the ongoing design and maintenance and administration of the Distribution site on company intranet.
• Prepares content and facilitates meetings to follow-up on key distribution initiatives.
• Manage the standardization, development and production of all DC communications. Partner with other departments including Legal and HR to design the communications to be complete, effective, timely, concise and easy-to-understand.
• Write and edit content for communications as needed
• Ensure that the overall message being sent to stores falls within Dollar General guidelines and communicates corporate initiatives.

Events

• Leads the organization and coordination of Supply Chain workshops, production and meeting events (SC Leadership Meetings, DC Leader Meetings, Supply Chain participation at Field Leadership Meetings)
• Facilitate DC visit and monthly business review materials

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow to meet deadlines
• Ability to maintain attention to detail in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
• Skilled in technical writing and in developing moderate to highly complex communication pieces
• Strong proofreading skills in order to produce error-free documents
• Knowledge of merchandising and operations principles and practices
• Understanding of pre-press and print production methods and processes
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively and efficiently communicate direction, concepts, ideas and expectations
• Excellent interpersonal and group communication skills
• Excellent organizational, project and time management skills
• Layout/design skills necessary
• Knowledge and understanding of standard proofreader marks
• Service-oriented and team developmental approach to the work

Work Experience &/or Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or related field
• 4-6 years of communications and management experience in corporate setting
