Dohn Community School is Hiring a Facilities Maintenance Technician I Near Cincinnati, OH

Dohn Community School is looking for entry level techs that would like to join our team. Candidates should be willing to learn, motivated, reliable and responsible. We recently opened our Vocational/Trade School this Fall for the 2022-2023 school year, we still are in the process of completing repairs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Facilities Maintenance Technician I, will complete routine building maintenance duties including basic facility repairs, such as: light plumbing repairs, painting, carpentry, light HVAC/electrical repairs under the supervision of management, moving furniture or equipment, and preventative maintenance.

  • The Facitility Maintenance Tech I, will ensure an orderly and safe working environment for all students and staff, including performing building walkthroughs with management.
  • Will perform carpentry, light plumbing and other routine maintenance tasks including basic HVAC/electrical tasks under the supervision of management.
  • Perform various facility repairs, move furniture/equipment as necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance/inspections and keep proper documentation, as assigned and under the supervision of management,
  • Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
  • Perform cleaning and related maintenance activities such as clearing walkways and removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within sixteen feet of buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.
  • Complete emergencies under the direction of management.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of rooms for meetings, conferences, events, etc.
  • Organize the maintenance storage areas and properly record all maintenance logs and work orders.
  • Implement best practice processes to increase efficiency as instructed by management.
  • Respond to facility and equipment alarms and system failures.
  • Address the maintenance concerns by employees, and if issues are major report all concerns to management.
  • Attend staff meetings and staff development programs when required.
  • Demonstrate appropriate attendance and punctuality.
  • May be required to work at various locations.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in facilities maintenance including repairs, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and painting skills required
  • Certificates of completion from vocational training program as pertains to job duties and knowledge necessary to perform job
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license
  • Knowledge and use of power tools
  • Hearing with adequacy required to complete job
  • Excellent communication skills with staff, students and vendors
  • Visual adequate required to perform job duties

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Lift up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend and stoop, climb, lift, hand and finger dexterity to open, hold and use equipment/tools required to perform job
  • Some exposure to dust, dirt, noise, chemical solutions/solvents/odors, minor injury hazards
  • Work is performed both interior and exterior with exposure to extremely hot and cold weather
  • Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties
