Job Brief:

Doherty Steel is searching for Material Handlers who will efficiently organize the movement of material. The primary role involves loading and unloading shipments, sorting, and organizing inventory, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Material handlers use various equipment such as forklifts, skytracks, and combilifts to move materials safely and quickly.

Material Handler / Expeditor Responsibilities:

• Adhere to safety protocols & practices.
• Coordinate locations of material to be loaded or unloaded.
• Check incoming steel using receiving procedures to ensure accuracy.
• Read and interpret material pull sheets.
• Properly identify material sizes and thickness.
• Assist with managing material inventory.
• Move materials using forklifts, overhead cranes and other material handling equipment.

Requirements:

• Strong organizations skills
• Strong communication skills
• Receive and verify incoming material shipments
• Ensure materials received meet quality standards
• Unload and move material to desired storage locations
• Maintain accurate records of inventory
• Ability to work overtime when necessary
• Give proper attention to detail
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean material storage area
• Work smart, safe and adhere to PPE requirements
• Lift and carry upwards of 50 pounds
• Ability to work in diverse weather conditions inside and outside our manufacturing facility
• Strong hand/eye coordination
