Position & Perks

The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a pivotal role in the smooth operation of restaurant facilities, acting as the backbone of maintenance and repair activities. This professional is tasked with a broad spectrum of responsibilities, from minor plumbing and electrical repairs to more specialized tasks such as tile work, door and cabinet repairs, ceiling repairs, and painting. In addition to these, they are also responsible for maintaining and repairing kitchen equipment, a critical component in the restaurant industry. The ideal technician is not just a hands-on problem solver but also a strategic thinker, equipped with a keen attention to detail. They must balance the cost of repairs and maintenance with the necessity of these actions, always prioritizing operational efficiency and minimizing downtime. Their expertise ensures that the restaurant operates smoothly, without interruptions due to equipment malfunctions or failures, thereby maintaining a seamless dining experience for guests and a reliable working environment for the staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular inspections of all assigned restaurants and report the condition of equipment and property, as well as maintenance status
  • Implement a preventative maintenance program for restaurant, building, and equipment in assigned area, which includes:
    • Maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, Switches, Receptacles etc.)
    • Repair & Maintenance of Plumbing. (Faucets, Supply lines, Drain lines, etc.)
    • Repair & Maintenance of Tiles (Floors, Walls, Ceiling etc.)
    • Repair & Maintenance of Doors & Cabinets. (Locks, Closers, Handles, Hinges etc.)

Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g. landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry etc.)

  • Ensure that part costs are kept under annual target and items are repaired vs replaced in order to maintain budgets whenever possible and practical
  • Recommend, when appropriate, the use of external vendors for repair; Monitor and inspect all work performed by outside contractors in assigned locations
  • Develop strong working relationships with restaurant managers and ensure that conflicts that cannot be resolved are brought to the attention of the Facilities Manager
  • Ensure inventory of parts is appropriate to volume of business
  • Maintain current service and warranty repair records and prevent unwarranted repair expenses
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of invoices, maintenance logs, capital expenditure request forms and any other pertinent administrative paperwork necessary
  • Perform duties as requested for store openings, remodels, store closing program; assists in transfer, sales and/ or disposal of equipment
  • Assist where necessary in the installation of equipment resulting from special projects
  • Perform other job related duties as may be assigned or required
  • Maintain company owned vehicle appropriately, ensuring that it is serviced regularly, is clean, neat and well organized
  • Use of own tools and equipment required; specialty tools may be purchased with prior authorization and will be maintained as company property

Qualifications

  • Mechanically inclined; experience a must
  • Knowledge of electrical and Plumbing.
  • Preferred; Two years’ experience working in maintenance field; background in restaurant equipment
  • Valid and Clear Driver's License
  • Operate a company vehicle and travel up to a 120 miles’ radius to other markets
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices; able to assess when equipment or parts are repairable and when new parts are required
  • Has the knowledge to do the repairs and maintenance on most equipment; knows when to involve peer techs with stronger knowledge in a particular area or when an external vendor is needed
