Job Title: Kennel Tech/Grounds Maintenance

Job Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports to: Facilities Director

Location: Falmouth, MA

Job Summary: Kennel tech/grounds maintenance is an entry-level position at the Northeast Region training Facility. Kennel tech/grounds maintenance are responsible for the care and well-being of dogs and responsible for the ground maintenance around the campus. As well as assisting in other roles and maintaining a clean and safe environment. 

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain and clean kennels, play yards, breezeways, grooming rooms and other kennel facilities using established and proper cleaning tools and methods. 
  • Scooping dog feces and sanitizing kennels daily.
  • Provide daily care and treatments to dogs in kennels, including administering prescribed medications.
  • Review and make health observations for dogs in kennels; keep accurate records about dog health and treatments to relay back to trainers. 
  • Preparing AM/PM meals and feeding dogs.
  • Provide additional dog care: bathing, playtime, special treats.
  • Ensure dishes are properly washed and sanitized daily.
  • Ensure laundry is properly washed and put away daily.
  • Ensure all workspaces are clean and organized throughout the day.
  • Maintain professionalism whenever working with staff and donors. 
  • Establish and maintain a positive learning environment by listening to instructions, following directions, asking questions, speaking clearly, and learning the skill sets required as a Kennel tech. 
  • Maintain safety by always following established safety policies and procedures.
  • Be accountable not only for direct responsibilities outlined in this job description but also to serve fellow staff and other constituents with whom position interacts. Ensure actions and communications are honest and transparent.
  • Run miscellaneous errands or vet trips, as necessary.
  • Perform other tasks as required by the organization and the supervisor.
  • Mowing/weed eating around the grounds. 
  • Pulling weeds. 
  • Spraying weed killer.
  • Pruning of shrubs, bushes, tree etc. 
  • Shoveling snow during winter.
  • Spreading deicer. 
  • Maintaining of grounds by doing miscellaneous tasks. 

Experience and Education:

  • Prior kennel experience preferred, but not required. 
  • Prior ground Maintenace experience preferred, but not required.
  • Degree preferred but not required.
