Medical Coder/Biller for Multi-Specialty Practice

Job Summary: The ideal candidate will possess experience in Medical Coding/Billing, with a strong knowledge of Billing and Collection practices for a multi-specialty practice. Accountable for understanding and coding all procedures within regulatory mandates. Responsible for verifying and notifying patient of any outstanding deductible and co-insurance, prior to upcoming procedure/surgery. Review and allocate the appropriate payments per payor contract and make necessary adjustment to patient accounts. Follow up on outstanding insurance claims, submit appeals and perform miscellaneous office duties as needed.

Required Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required. Completion of courses in Medical terminology, Business, Math, English, Data entry, and computer classes are highly desirable.
• Four years of Medical Billing/Collection experience in medical office REQUIRED.
• Must be proficient working with multiple clearing houses.
• Ability to greet patients and answer the telephone in a professional manner.
• Skill and ability to read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, laws, and regulations; read and interpret medical procedures and terminology; exercise independent judgment; and prepare reports and related documents.
• Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, verbal and written communication.
• Must be able to organize and prioritize effectively and simultaneously.
• Recognize, evaluate, solve problems, and correct errors.
• Attention to detail, ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when completing task.
• Requires the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with our patients, providers, co-workers, and the public.
• Skill and ability to review the work of others and maintain confidentiality
• Experience in reading and understanding contracts.
• Enters charges accurately according to insurance payors/contracts
• Maintain productivity and work independently with minimal instructions.
• Always maintains a professional appearance.
