Overview

Are you a compassionate and experienced counselor looking to make a meaningful impact during times of crisis? Join our team of Stress Counselors, providing critical support to FEMA personnel in the aftermath of disasters. As a Stress Counselor, you will play a vital role in helping individuals cope with the emotional challenges associated with traumatic events and acute stress, contributing to the overall well-being of our dedicated response workers.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Behavioral Health Services: Provide Behavioral Health Services to FEMA personnel affected by disaster events.
  • Trauma and Stress Counseling: Offer care for individuals who have been exposed to traumatic events, addressing issues such as survivor's guilt, grief, and acute stress related to the disaster. Offer tools and resources to help employees manage stress and build resilience.
  • On-Site Support: Engage with response workers on-site, offering one-on-one counseling and support as needed.
  • Stress Lectures: Conduct stress-related lectures to educate personnel on managing stress effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Crisis Leadership Support: Assist managers in leading their teams through crisis situations, offering guidance and resources to maintain productivity and morale.

Role and Impact:

As a Stress Counselor, your primary goal is to help FEMA personnel minimize the emotional impacts and stressors associated with disaster operations. By providing critical counseling and support services, you'll contribute to ensuring that our staff can continue their mission effectively and maintain a high level of functionality during challenging times.

Schedule

  • 8 or 12 hour Shifts

Qualifications

Experience Required:

  • Master's degree in clinical social work, clinical mental health counseling, or equivalent degree in social and mental health services.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in clinical counseling or related field.
