Field Staff - Infusion Nurse

Job Description

Position Type: Per Diem

Team: Clinical

Description: The Infusion Nurse – Field Staff is responsible for providing quality infusion services for Dobson Healthcare patients. The infusion nurse will ensure the patient receives unsurpassable continuity of care, maintains confidentiality of the clients and Dobson Healthcare, protects the legal liability of the company, and enhances the growth & development of Dobson Infusion Services. .

Responsibilities:

  • Provide skilled infusion clinical care and services for Dobson Healthcare infusion clients. The infusion nurse will perform their duties in accordance to legal/ethical standards and the goals, vision, and philosophy of Dobson Healthcare Services.
  • Educate clients and provide feedback to clinical management staff regarding patient clinical status.
  • Work as a team with Nurse Care Coordinators and Regional Managers to provide consistent communication and develop positive relationships with all clients, families and involved healthcare providers.
  • Complies with accepted ethical conduct and professional Standards of Nursing Practice as set forth by the American Nurses Association and Infusion Nurses Society.
  • Understands and adheres to Dobson Healthcare policies & procedures.
  • Clinical infusion competencies are completed initially and then annually thereafter.
  • Maintain their skills and competencies as required by the Dobson Healthcare Services, Inc.
  • Participate in employee development activities as directed.
  • Participate in process change by submitting ideas for work methods and procedural changes that facilitate the improvement in the delivery of high quality care.
  • Perform clinical visits, employee supervisory visits, openings, etc. as necessary to complete tasks within Dobson Policy’s timeframes and as directed by the clients’ physician/payer source directives.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement program by performing routine audits of client charts to insure charts and documentation are completed and accurate according to accreditation standards and Dobson Policy, as directed by the clinical coordinators.
  • Participate in educational in-services, CEUs, events, and other educational programs related to infusion services as may be required to maintain expertise in new therapies or services.
  • Participate in annual peer review supervisory visits for infusion nurses as directed by the Clinical Manager, to provide on-going feedback regarding their performance.
  • Represent Dobson Healthcare Services, Inc. professionally and with a strong commitment to the goals, vision, and philosophy of the organization.
  • Attend on-site teachings/in-services pertaining to office and clinical procedures for clients, caregivers, and administration.
  • Be flexible and willing to travel as requested.
  • Maintain accurate client documentation and submit documentation based on Dobson policy.
  • Function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the patient.
  • May be requested to perform skilled nursing visits for homecare and/or infusion clients as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Must hold a current license through the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
  • Must have at least 1 year of acute direct patient nursing care experience. Must have recent, with the past 6 months experience with the placement of peripheral intravenous access sites. Prior experience with multiple types of infusion access devices, IV therapy team, home infusion, ambulatory infusion suite is preferred.
  • Must have strong patient assessment, patient management, and documentation skills. Strong written and verbal communication a must.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel.
  • Must be willing to authorize Dobson Healthcare to obtain my driver’s record annually. Must also provide current vehicle insurance
  • Maintain and demonstrate standard practice of nursing as governed by the state of Michigan.
  • Must have a current (within 1 year) physical from a physician stating there are no work restriction have no contagious diseases, TB Test, must possess current CPR certification, pass pre-employment/random drug screening and driver’s record check.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical and environmental conditions including indoor/outdoors, be able to maintain basic safety in the home including, bathroom safety, fire safety, and universal precautions.
  • May be required to handle hazardous substances including blood, infectious materials, and hazardous waste according to OSHA guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Heavy Work: Must exert 50-100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25-50 pounds of force frequently to move objects, including the human body.
  • Standing/Walking: Must stand/walk frequently and intermittently to accomplish tasks.
  • Lifting: Must frequently raise objects including the human body from a lower to higher position and/or horizontally from position to position. Must be able to lift arms above shoulder level.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Must occasionally use upper extremities to push and/or pull objects, including the human body, in a sustained motion.
  • Climbing: Must frequently climb in and out of a vehicle. Must frequently ascend and descend stairs, uneven surfaces, or obstacles which may be located indoors or outdoors and may not be handicap accessible.
  • Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching: Must frequently stoop, kneel, or crouch during the provision of client care.
  • Balancing: Must maintain balance, necessary for ordinary locomotion and body equilibrium.
  • Reaching: Must frequently reach to administer client care, services, treatment, and procedures.
  • Fingering/Grasping: Must frequently finger and/or grasp objects including medical supplies, the human body, etc.
  • Feeling: Must frequently touch objects, including the human body, to perceive attributes such as size shape, temperature, or texture.
  • Repetitive Motions: Must frequently use upper and/or lower extremities in a repetitive motion including writing and driving.
  • Sensory Needs: Must possess fine motor skills visual acuity (including near and far vision) for color discrimination and depth perception, and those senses necessary for client evaluation/assessment, communication and driving, including sight, touch, hearing, and smell.
