We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dedicated team in our outpatient medical oncology/hematology private practice. As a LPN, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care, supporting the medical team, and ensuring a positive experience for our patients undergoing cancer treatment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician.
Exhibit passion for and experience in Oncology patient care
Manage patients with oncologic and hematologic diagnoses
Perform basic lab tests such as phlebotomy, collection of other lab specimens, and EKGs
Prepare and administer Injections and document medication under a physicians order
Duties will include administration of IV, and oral medications, vascular access device maintenance and monitoring, chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration, blood administration, therapeutic phlebotomy, assessment of patient symptoms and the management of side effects, and over all collaboration on patient treatment plans Mixing and administration of chemotherapy drugs
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families throughout treatment
Triages patient/family phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited LPN program
Current New York State LPN license
2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient oncology setting preferred
Strong clinical skills, including IV insertion and medication administration.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
