Description

Position Overview:

The Warranty and Validation Technician is responsible for assisting in the development of new products, qualifying product samples, investigating problem parts, and maintaining drawings and development records. The position is physically located in the Product Development Laboratory. The position works with the factory partners to maintain new and existing parts documentation and specifications. In addition, the product engineer assists in maintaining the product sample inventory. Finally, the Warranty and Validation Technician is responsible for overseeing inspections of incoming parts, warranty returns, and newly developed parts. This team member will record and analyze inspection data, clearly communicate issues to the engineering team, and assist in the disposition of defective materials. This position oversees and manages an Assistant Warranty and Validation Technician. 

Responsibilities:

· Provide engineering testing and evaluation services to DMA Industries for all product types

· Review and evaluate test data and results to approved product drawings and specifications

· Investigate product failures to determine and document the root cause

· Develop test methods, operate, and maintain testing equipment; including 3D scanning. Maintain process for calibration of Laboratory equipment.

· Provide leadership and guidance to the Assistant Warranty and Validation Technician. 

· Perform metrology and performance testing of returned products and prototypes

· Communicate with factory engineering teams as necessary to investigate product issues

· Review and validate test data from factory partners

· Perform incoming product sample evaluation to approved drawings and specifications.

· Assist in the evaluation and approval of prototype product samples and test builds.

· Confer with the product development team to prepare, document, and implement design modifications and manage changes. Make sure the factory partners properly issue design revisions for any changes.

· Maintain the DMA documentation requirements for PPAP and review accompanying documentation. Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional, reliability and quality requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 0-2 years’ experience with a technical degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Solid works or other CAD software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP processes
  • Understanding metrology and testing processes related to DMA product types
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team
  • Basic knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems
  • Multi tasking ability and capable to work under deadlines and time constraints

Language Skills: Ability to read and write in English. Ability to effectively articulate and present information and respond to questions from Management in a professional manner.
