DLZ has a Safety Representative in Lansing or Detroit, Michigan. This is a individual contributor position reporting to the corporate office in Columbus, OH. The Safety Representative will be responsible for the distribution and implementation of the corporate occupational safety program in DLZ's Michigan operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Review, evaluate, and monitor areas of safety for DLZ site-specific clients, including training, personal protective equipment, record keeping, and incident investigation.
Serve as safety liaison to clients.
Keep up to date with safety and environmental legal requirements, client requirements, best practices, and technologies through continuing education and conferences.
Maintain inventory of personal protective equipment and safety supplies for assigned region.
Assist project managers with the selection and evaluation of safety equipment for new projects.
Conduct monthly safety meetings for personnel within assigned region, focusing agenda to site-specific functions and needs.
Coordinate and schedule any site-specific safety training.
Track and maintain site-specific health & safety statistics and records, including safety training, within assigned region.
Conduct on-site inspections to evaluate physical conditions and safe work practices and to assess compliance with DLZ and site-specific safety procedures; communicate all findings via written safety audit report to project managers, audited employees, and senior leadership. Serve as the Point of Contact for facilitating corrective actions.
Work with Corporate Legal Counsel to facilitate expeditious investigation of safety incidents within assigned region and ensure accurate record keeping and reporting. Analyze incident reports to identify causal factors, prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective & preventive action to mitigate potential hazards, and communicate information to stakeholders.
Other duties as assigned to support the company's safety values.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental/Engineering Sciences, or related field.
1 or more years' experience in safety, preferably in construction safety and practical application of OSHA 1910 and 1926.
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach preferred.
Familiar with MS Office, iAuditor, eBuilder, Bluebeam, industrial client prequalification software, drug & alcohol screening software beneficial.
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions required.
Must have a satisfactory driving record, criminal background investigation and drug test.
Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
Ability to traveling within assigned region approximately 80% of the time, may occasionally need to work irregular hours to inspect jobsites and perform incident investigations.
