If you are a highly talented Paralegal interested in working closely with attorneys and clients while performing a range of substantive case and client matter related duties, we want to hear from you!

This position is located in our San Diego office and offers a hybrid work schedule. On-site presence is required.

Paralegals are a critical part of DLA Piper’s client service teams, working side by side with lawyers, co-counsel and clients on an array of substantive client matters. The majority of our paralegals are career professionals. They work independently and on teams, locally, nationally, and globally.

The Paralegal Team itself includes Case Assistants, Paralegals, Senior Paralegals and Paralegal Specialists. Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Degree and/or a Paralegal certificate. Must meet the California Paralegal Requirements
  • 1 year of Paralegal experience
  • Must have strong skills in Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with legal software such as Relativity, LexisNexis, Westlaw or similar application required

Preferred Requirements:

  • Public and private company experience
  • Carta experience
  • Section 16 experience 
  • Blue Sky experience
  • Experience preparing and filing a variety of corporate legal documents (Articles of Incorporation/Organization, amendments, state qualifications, consents, merger documents, closing books, electronic closing sets, initial drafts or certificates, short-form closing deliverables, and filing annual reports)
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Large firm experience 

What will your day look like?Your day will be spent performing a range of substantive case, matter, or entity-related duties by supporting efforts between attorneys, clients, outside legal counsel, opposing legal counsel, and other parties. This will include developing, monitoring, and updating closing and other books and other documents.

You will also be responsible for researching, preparing, and filing legal UCC Financing Statements, Articles of Incorporation/Organization, annual reports, managing data rooms, and matter files, coordinating execution and delivery of documentation to other parties’ counsel, lenders, governmental agencies, etc., including all closing documentation. You will also develop, monitor, and update closing and other checklists.

Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. 

The expected pay range for this position, if hired to work in San Diego is $43.36 - $64.51 per hour. Non-exempt positions will be paid on an hourly basis and paid overtime in accordance with applicable laws. The compensation offered to a candidate selected for employment will be dependent upon various factors, including the candidate’s geographic market, skills, educational and professional background, experience, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
