Job Title: Java and Scala Developer - Banking/Financial Services

Location - NYC, NY

Hybrid - 3 days onsite

Contract to hire position

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy scalable and high-performance software solutions for banking and financial applications.
2. Utilize your proficiency in Java and Scala to architect and implement robust backend systems, services, and APIs that meet business requirements and performance objectives.
3. Develop and maintain distributed and concurrent systems capable of handling large volumes of transactions and data with low latency and high reliability.
4. Design and optimize algorithms and data structures to support complex financial calculations, risk analysis, and trading strategies.
5. Implement automated tests and quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability, security, and maintainability of software components.
6. Stay updated on emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trends in banking and financial services, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
7. Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and contribute to the overall architecture and design of banking applications.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
2. Extensive experience in software development using Java and Scala, with a strong understanding of functional programming principles and best practices.
3. Solid understanding of distributed computing concepts, including concurrency, parallelism, and asynchronous programming.
4. Proficiency in building RESTful APIs, microservices, and scalable backend systems using frameworks such as Spring Boot, Akka, or Play Framework.
5. Experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling concepts, particularly in the context of financial applications.
6. Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
7. Knowledge of financial markets, trading systems, and industry regulations (e.g., SEC, FINRA) is highly desirable.
8. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
9. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
