Divine Savior Academy - Delray is Hiring a Spanish Teacher / Part Time / 2024-2025 School Year Near Delray Beach, FL

The purpose of the Spanish teacher is to teach the Spanish language, culture and literature so that students further develop their skills, expand their vocabulary, and are able to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently.

The Spanish Teacher has a cooperative relation with the other language teachers in the World languages department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Hold Spanish K-12 certification or is willing to participate in a program to complete the requirements for certification within a specified time period.
  • Possesses a reasonable level of computer literacy, having a basic proficiency in word processing, creating and using a spreadsheet, e-mailing, and accessing the Internet.
  • Has evidence of adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school administrator.

Duties

As a practical definition, the Spanish Teacher students:

  • Teaches Spanish classes in a way that maximizes student learning
  • Plans for and teaches all assigned classes
  • Incorporates all domains of language and Hispanic culture into the curriculum
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Employs a variety of teaching and learning strategies in order to reach all students.
  • Encourages the development of productive skills through appropriate assignments.
  • Contributes to the development and selection of instructional materials as relevant to course objectives.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the philosophy of education of DSA and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Evaluates student learning
  • Establishes adequate learning outcomes for courses
  • Evaluates student performance fairly and consistently
  • Returns student work promptly to promote maximum learning
  • Maintains accurate and updated records of students
  • Supports school policies and procedures.
  • Develops, updates, and shares course syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with school policies.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student information.
  • Substitutes for other teachers within the school in case of an absence.

Participates in School, Level and Department Activities

  • Participates in meeting and events required by the school, level and department administrators (examples include faculty meetings, leveled meeting, PLCs and staff development courses)
  • Serves in school, level, and department committees as assigned.
  • Supports both part-time and full-time colleagues.
  • Contributes to program and division curriculum development processes.
  • Participates in graduation and awards ceremonies
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff and administrators as an individual or as a part of a team.

Supports and assists the World Languages Department by

  • Promoting interest in the Spanish Language and culture as well as in other world languages.
  • Assists in the planning and implementing of international cultural activities on campus
  • Coordinates and assists language enrichment activities to further promote the international focus of the department.

Reports to:

Principal.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
