Your Opportunity Awaits

The Equipment Operator is responsible for equipment maintenance and operation while achieving benchmarks of construction. Qualified Operators assists in the placing, rearranging, and removing Hand Holes, conduit, cable lines, and drops. You'll work with cables and conduit to perform installation of new build on outside plant equipment. As a Operator, you’ll assist in training crew Laborers on Equipment operation and Knowledge of the system. Most often, you'll work outside as part of a team performing installation, maintenance and repair on facilities that start from outside the Central Office (CO) and stop at the terminal or at a customer's building.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Equipment Operator Qualifications:

  • 3- 5 years of relevant equipment experience with a proven safety record
  • Knowledge and experience working with different types and sizes of equipment
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Must demonstrate ability of being a good team player
  • Experience in effectively prioritizing and executing tasks
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions including jobsite directions, maps, and instructional manuals
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions

Equipment Operator Working Conditions:

  • Job requires working in all elements, depending on the time of year, heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat and safety glasses at all times)
  • Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required
  • Work on uneven surfaces

Equipment Operator Physical Functions and Duties:

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead
  • Must be able to operate heavy equipment
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • Possess good vision (normal or corrected)
  • Possess good hearing (normal or corrected)

Heavy Equipment Operator Duties:

  • Learn and follow safety regulations. Safe operation of equipment is a must; negligent and/or abusive operation will not be tolerated
  • Promptly report any mechanical or safety problem with the equipment in accordance with company procedures
  • Perform job responsibilities safely under various working conditions
  • Understand the value of teamwork and communications necessary to operate onsite functions
  • Perform a daily equipment walk-around inspection and preventive maintenance responsibilities
