Job Description: Diversified Fall Protection East’s Project Estimator is critical in ensuring our customers serviced from our Raleigh, NC facility receive the highest level of support. The Project Estimator in the Estimating Department completes project takeoff designs based on OSHA/ANSI governing standards and processes all incoming requests for quotation, assuring that the quotes are completed correctly, in a timely manner, and to the specifications requested. The Project Estimator must coordinate these activities with sales, site survey technicians, and the engineering department as necessary to complete each project. The Project Estimator may be called upon to aid in sales/customer communications through conference calls or by other means, provide guidance to the site survey technicians both in the field and in the office, and work closely with the engineering department to resolve costing/design related problems.

Essential Job Functions

· Perform take-off estimates and proposals based on project plans, details and/or delegated design

· Review and organize project specifications, drawings (blue prints) and addenda

· Review project plans and specifications for coordination and bidding

· Create industry compliant delegated designs for bidding based on OSHA/ANSI standards

· Prepare bid forms and project pricing breakouts as required

· Review and create change orders when required for scope changes and updates

· Recognize potential project installation constraints and factor into project costing

· Recognize and elevate custom applications or constructability concerns to engineering for feed

· Develop and maintain relationships with designers, contractors and vendors

· Participate in pre-bid meetings and/or conference calls with customers and internal staff

· Communicate effectively internally and externally to gain relevant information for quotation

· Review estimating and bid package for completeness and accuracy

· Meet bid deadlines and timelines as directed by customers and contractors

Work Environment

This individual will work in an office setting. There may be times where this individual may need to enter the warehouse plant floor, in this setting constant awareness to surroundings and safety will be required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, this individual must be able to sit for extended periods at a time. Employee must be able to read and work at a computer station for 8 hours or more per day. Employee must be able to use fingers and hands to type, write and draw.

Required Education, Experience & Clearances

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field
  • Valid Driver’s License & Evidence of Ability to Insure
  • Criminal Justice Background Check (state and federal)
  • Drug Test (10-panel) / E – Verify

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Commercial/construction related estimating experience
  • Design experience related to takeoffs
  • Drafting experience
  • Customer Resource Management (CRM) exposure
  • Management experience
  • OSHA/ANSI Fall Protection standards knowledge (not required)
