Job Summary

The Job Development Employment Specialist works within the community to source jobs for individuals with barriers. They provide assistance to individuals to find meaningful community employment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential job functions.

· Performs community job development; work directly with employers to place our program participants in a position that best matches their abilities.

· Provide transportation to and from work site for consumers, if necessary.

· Provides ongoing support and assistance to employers.

· Establish goals and objectives to monitor consumer employment progress.

· Observe, record, and report consumer work behavior, as deemed necessary by the individual’s person-centered program plan.

· Participate as a member of the community support program team; Maintain liaison relationship with job site employer and the consumer. Communicate with other agencies and entities to inform them of consumer’s progress, needs, and or concerns. Consult with necessary entities to transfer job coaching and transportation responsibilities to natural supports.

· Develop and maintain accurate recordkeeping files to stay current with pertinent information as it relates to community employment.

· Advocate for both the consumer and the community employer.

· Work cooperatively with all staff to achieve department and Company goals.

· Maintain confidentiality policies of the Company.

· Participate in the Real-Time Feedback and Goal-Achievement Coaching Program at Diverse Options, Inc.

· Remain current in and implement new methods of training and education for consumers.

· Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

· Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner so others will understand; excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficiently skilled at active listening; Gives full attention to what other people are saying, takes time to understand the points being made, and asks questions without interrupting at inappropriate times.

· Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.

· Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with challenging behaviors.

· Demonstrated ability to respond to situations in an honest and ethical manner and to maintain a high level of confidentiality when necessary.

· Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.

· Proficiently skilled at adapting to various work environments and work hours.

· Demonstrated ability to use logic and reasoning in decision-making to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

· Knowledge of how to copy and print documents using a multi-functional printer.

· Knowledge of how to transmit information or documents to customers, using computer, mail, or facsimile machine.

· Proficiently skilled with basic computer applications including Microsoft Office products.

· Knowledge of good housekeeping practices.

Education & Experience Required:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· 2 years of directly related work experience in job development or sales. Prior experience working with individuals in the DVR process a plus

· Experience working with individuals with varying abilities

Additional Requirements:

At the time of hire, must submit to and pass a caregiver background check, as required by The Caregiver Law under Wis. Stat. § 50.065.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to balance, stretch, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, walk, kneel, twist, climb, stand, and sit.

· Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

· Ability to push and pull up to 30 lbs.

Driving Requirements:

· If individual will be driving his/her own personal vehicle for business purposes, proof of adequate personal auto insurance is required.

· If individual will be driving a Diverse Options, Inc. vehicle, he/she must meet Company driving standards, which include the following:

o Must be at least 21 years old,

o Must have a current valid driver’s license, and

o Must have a good driving record.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
