Purpose of Job:

We are seeking an experienced geometry and meshing software engineer to develop mesh generation and processing software to support our topology optimization, additive manufacturing, and robotic assembly software products. The ideal candidate will have experience developing unstructured mesh generation algorithms, techniques for mesh manipulation and improvement such as smoothing and local mesh transformations, and applying these techniques in the context of industrial scale product development. The candidate should have a strong understanding of modern software development practices in an agile development environment. In addition to developing code and documentation, they will also collaborate with engineers and scientists to ensure algorithms meet the specific needs of users.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:

•Develop and maintain software development best practices to ensure high-quality code, efficient testing, and timely releases.

•Design, implement, and optimize advanced algorithms and data structures in the field of mesh generation and manipulation to address real-world challenges and improve the speed and efficiency of geometric computations.

•Design and implement algorithms and data structure for interfacing with CAD models and preparing them for meshing.

•Conduct in-depth analysis of discrete models originating during topology optimization to identify potential mesh quality issues to improve structural analysis.

•Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, mathematicians, and domain experts, to ensure that our capabilities integrate seamlessly into larger software systems and applications.

•Prepare clear and comprehensive documentation for algorithms, code, and methodologies. Communicate complex concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

•Continuously monitor industry and research trends in computational geometry and meshing, geometric modeling, digital manufacturing, and computer-aided design, and bring those ideas back to the team.

PhD or MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field

Licenses/Certificates:

Experience:

•Strong understanding of computational geometry, mesh generation algorithms, and finite element methods.

•Strong proficiency developing and implementing efficient algorithms in C or a similar language.

•Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software and formats commonly used in engineering, such as NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, and STEP.

•Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

•Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Bonus:

•Experience with meshing for additive manufacturing.

•Experience with CAD software interfaces.

•Experience developing in Python.

•Experience with cloud computing, parallel processing, and high-performance computing for engineering problems.
