District Sitter, LLC is Hiring an Event Childcare Lead Assistant Near Washington, DC

District Sitter is an elite boutique childcare agency providing the best childcare service for families and organizations in the DMV area. We cover all childcare related needs, including special event care, such as babysitters for weddings, corporate events, charity events, board meetings and family reunions in Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland area.

Job Description:

The Event Lead Assistant: Provides onsite and engaging leadership to the event childcare team, working closely with the agency Director and assisting with all operational and logistical aspects to ensure smooth delivery of programming and a positive experience for children, parents, and caregivers. This position leads by example with a positive, organized, and outgoing approach, maintaining a friendly, yet assertive attitude. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, confident, and energetic. We are looking for a reliable creative team member who can enhance the event babysitting service that we already provide and coordinate our team of caregivers to accomplish successful events according to our high standards of care.

  • Location: Washington, DC. Metro Area (Varies per event location.)
  • Schedule: Part-time, per event (usually during weekends and at evening time). Customarily scheduled one month in advance.
  • Compensation: $35-$40/hr. This position will be paid through payroll with taxes withheld.
  • Benefits: Mileage reimbursement; Gas stipend; Flexible schedule and fun team/work environment.

Requirements:

  • 4 years of professional childcare experience, to include managing large groups of children and having worked with different age groups.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Possess leadership qualities; must be able to comfortably take the lead and provide guidance to other nannies. Previous experience in a leadership role preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Reliable vehicle for transportation to and from events.
  • Positive, engaging, and professional attitude.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and parents.
  • Available for weekends and evening hours
  • Comfortable with a flexible schedule, based on event calendar and business needs.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred but not required (ex: psychology, education, etc.)
  • Authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities:

Primary

  • Arrives to childcare events ahead of time with required materials, supplies and toys.
  • Communicate with babysitters to confirm timely arrival.
  • Validates designated spaces are in proper condition and coordinates timely setup of childcare area. Ensures materials are in place so that the staff has the necessary tools to complete duties effectively.
  • Maintains a welcoming attitude towards all attendees, representing the childcare team and agency. Manages interactions with children, parents, and nannies to ensure high quality customer service.
  • Oversees logistical and operational aspects to ensure smooth childcare services during the event.
  • Keeps track of inventory, event reports, attendance and important updates
  • Coordinates and instructs nannies during the event, continuously encouraging them to engage with the children in age-appropriate activities.
  • Supervises nannies to ensure great performance, and provides guidance as needed.
  • Provides high-quality and attentive care to the children during the event.
  • Ensures a safe, fun, and stimulating environment is maintained throughout the event, in line with District Sitter standards and guidelines. In the event of unsafe conditions, applies appropriate procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Addresses any issues or concerns from staff or attendees, handling potential conflicts effectively to ensure a positive resolution. Reports any incident or relevant situations to the Director.
  • Once the event has finalized, ensures that areas are left in appropriate conditions, and collects agency materials, to be returned as coordinated.

Secondary

  • Assists the Director with a range of event-related administrative duties as needed.
  • Assists in the process of planning and organizing activities prior to the event, if required.
  • Other related duties as needed.
