District of Columbia Housing Authority is Hiring a Mobility Specialist Near Washington, DC

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to provide housing mobility program services for the District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA), Housing Choice Voucher Program’s (HCVP’s) Housing Mobility Program. The HCVP Housing Mobility Program will educate and encourage families to explore and secure housing opportunities in better educational and economic communities. The HCVP Housing Mobility Program will provide each family that chooses to participate and complete the counseling program a Certificate of Completion, high-quality housing and financial counseling, and support in the transition to the new neighborhood and schools.

All activities will support the District of Columbia Housing Authority's (DCHA’s) strategic goals and objectives and produce results that accomplish the goals of the Housing Choice Voucher Program.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides Housing Mobility Program services for applicants and participants in the DCHA/HCVP Housing Mobility Program;
  • Supports internal initiatives and the development of continuing process improvements;
  • Assists with coordination of seamless customer service delivery with other internal teams, including HCVP staff;
  • Contributes to the identification and implementation of best practices Housing Mobility Program services; participates in regional and national studies and conferences advocating for increased housing mobility services;
  • Conducts federal and local orientation briefings to applicants, participants, landlords/owners, and the general public as deemed necessary;
  • Conducts one-on-one sessions with low-income public housing (LIPH) residents impacted temporary and permanent relocation (environmental concerns/approved demolition/disposition applications, etc.);
  • Participates in community meetings;
  • Works collaboratively with Property Managers and Housing Management Assistants (HMA);
  • Organizes and participate in landlord meet-and-lease gatherings;
  • Works on special relocation projects;
  • Creates and maintain reports of progress with relocating households;
  • Engages with third party organizations that are providing services to families/households impacted by DCHA’s relocation efforts (credit counselors; mental healthcare providers; etc.)
  • Engages with landlords during unit search activities and lease-ups;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and at least three years’ related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience which meet the minimum qualifications requirement may be substituted.


The District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) conducts pre-employment screening on specified positions, which may include but is not limited to a criminal background check, drug and alcohol testing, verification of academic credentials, licenses, and certifications, and/or verification of work history.


This position has been designated by the department to require a drug and alcohol screening and background check. Finalist(s) for this position will be subject to drug and alcohol testing and will be required to consent to a pre-employment background check as a condition of employment.
